Hi all, I’m new here. I am 66 and I just bought myself a 2020 GT Premium Fastback, manual transmission, Rapid Red. In fact, the order was just placed with the factory about 12 hours ago so if anyone is interested in order/delivery time, I will post updates. I live just east of Toronto and this car is . . . . well it’s my retirement gift to myself! I drove a friends new Bullitt about 16 months ago and I knew I had to make this longtime dream/car happen.
I just want to say this forum is awesome, I’ve spent hours reading the threads many of you have contributed to and your opinions and feedback have been invaluable as I put together my build list.
I’ve had a lot of vehicles over the years but I can honestly say I have never been so excited as I am about this Mustang!

For the life of me, I can't understand why us old coots would get a Mustang without magneride. Best feature of my Mustang next to the 5.0. I mean the ride is so much more enjoyable. I thought the ride of my 2013 GT Brembo was great, but compared to my 2019 PP2 it's a different animal.
Yeah getting out of it can be a little difficult with the side splitters getting in the way and being so low, but who wants to get out of it. I mean, it's not like you can't get out of it. It just takes a little planning and practice.
Here's my take as another old coot. I also had a '13 brembo GT as a daily driver. I thought the ride was a little harsh, especially on the rural roads of northeast PA where I spend summers. So when it came time to order the '18, I vacillated on the magneride vs. just staying with the standard suspension with 18" wheels. I went with the cheaper option and am happy with the ride. Much nicer than the brembo car. But again, mine is a daily driver and not tracked.

I think you owe it to yourself to drive a few different sporty cars. Try the automatic and the manual versions if you are even a little curious. Clutch pedals have gotten lighter in recent years. Try a Challenger. I think the Challenger is terrific. If I were never going back to the road course I would probably own a Challenger. I'd try the Camaro too, but I think it might be more difficult to get in and out of. Maybe try a Supra as well. I realize the Supra is more like the BMW, but you still might like it. IMO it's a big decision buying a car and I would try anything that you think you might possibly like.

Don't take the reviewer's word for it. I've noticed quite a few times I disagree with reviewers.

Make sure you set the seat height all the way up, as that can make a difference.

My first post so bear with me please.

I’m 70 and am currently driving a 2014 BMW 435i. It’s my little pocket rocket after doing a few mods. Pulling about 370hp at the rear wheels so it will get up and move. But, my first car was a 64 GTO w/tripower. There is no sound that compares to a V8 but, that’s just my opinion.

But, no pun intended, my butt sits so low in this thing it’s getting to be a chore getting in and out of it. When I first started my research I was leaning towards the Camaro SS. Then I read about its interior quality along how low the driver sits in it that I switched over to the Mustang GT.

Since I was a sales manager with one of the largest Ford dealers in the states 20 years ago I could get a great deal on a new one. Many of the sales people that worked for me are now GSM’s at different dealers in the area. But, I think since this will be my “toy” that I will end up going with a used 2018-2019. Looks like I can save at least $20K+/- depreciation versus buying a new one.

Now my major question. For any of you that have had another type of sports car, how does the Mustang sit compared to it? Yes, I realize I need to go in and sit in one but quite honestly I don’t want to waste any of my friends time dealing with a senile old man until I’m sure the Mustang is what I want.

Thanks for the input and looking forward to being a member of this forum. I belong to a BMW forum that is quite active but this one puts it to shame.
Compared to a vette it's way easier.i sat in camaros and I think they are a bit lower, seats not as roomy, and you can't see out rear window. Make sure you get the. Gt 401a option that includes variable exhaust.which range from quiet. To very loud ,pretty cool.i had 65 got with stock e hausts, and this car is similar to me. Plus you'll get the variable drive options as well as a complete digital dash that you. adjust colors.i love the 10 speed AT.but at 75 my knee didn't like the Shelby 6 speed.i swear this car is as quick as Shelby.good luck hunting

Hi - Too many replies and now you’re totally confused? Well, here’s another one of those unscientific, biased and totally subjective replies. I have a ‘65 GTO 4 speed and Tri-Power. That’s obviously easy to enter and exit. I had a C4 Vette coupe with Sport seats and the entry/exit was a contributing factor to my trading it toward my ‘19 Bullitt. There may be some subtle differences with a standard GT but my wife and I are both happy with the ergonomics, etc. of the Bullitt which has MagneRide. I of course stuck with the standard seats which in my case are heated, cooled and have the memory function. The memory function is a nice convenient feature. The Bullitt is only available with the 6 speed which is my preference anyway. My GTO has an OEM replacement exhaust and is not too noisy unless you step on it. The variable exhaust feature is nice and the exhaust note on my Bullitt is outstanding. It reminds me of those memorable glass packs from the ‘60s. I like the digital dash feature as well. I assume these things would be very similar to the GTs. I never had any other sports cars so my experience is limited. As a 78 year old, I say go for it, which is what my wife said when I sheepishly raised the subject of getting the Bullitt two years ago.

I am a senior with a stomach I got trying to quit smoking, having went to Chinese buffet for lunches for months. My Jeep Wrangler is the best vehicle to get in and out; on wife's 718 I have to sit my butt first, then bring my legs in -- what a pain.

I can get in/out of 2019 GT easily. It's fun to drive my 6 speed. Only regret is not getting the Active Exhaust and the big woofer.

Get one and enjoy. The Coronavirus is here -- we might not have long left on this Earth, thanks to freaking Chinese...
