Have a 2020 Ecoboost Premium, bought new Jan 2020. Since then have complained to dealer service of a slight side to side wobble and clicking noise from under seat. First time said it was a plastic piece now they said it is pkay in the j channel of seat frame but will not replace or repair they claim normal. Spoke with service mgr, told him my 2018 GT that I traded for a 2019 Bullitt I still have and they were both rock solid. Service mgr said I see you bought the Ecoboost elsewhere I replied but I bought both 2018 & 2019 from you when he said why don't you try selling dealer. Wonder if contacting Ford customer service would be any help.

Most likely seat bolts need to be re-torqued.

Thank you for the tsb, called my service advisor with it and he printed the tsb for the service mgr. They will now apply the tsb to it. A real shame that the service mgr had no knowledge of the tsb till the forum told me. I called Ford and explained the situation and filed a complaint about the service mgr and tech with no knowledge of the tsb.

For some reason, some Techs don't research or look for the TSB. The other issue is some of the TSB's only apply to a certain model year, and it gets overlooked with a new model year that has the same previous design...problem..

Dealer did TSB, tech wrote now okay. I got in car seat same wobbling and same noises, no improvement. Shop foreman said noise and wobble still there but he cannot overrule service mgr who said will not do anything more. I had bought 4 mustangs from this dealer but not this one since what they had was not what I wanted. Service mgr said take to your selling dealer. Spoke with Ford opened case but they said cannot force dealer to fix. Hortible tech and service mgr.

As this is possibly a safety issue, Ford most certainly can force the dealer to repair. But at this point I would just move on and find another dealer. I would also politely blast them on social media. Other owners need to be warned about these assholes.

Why would you force them to work on your car? I'd tell them to pound sand and would never set foot in there again.

If there is still a wobble from the seat, has anyone checked:

The securing seat bolts that secure the seat to the actual seat track? There's (4) bolts that usually secure the seat bottom to the actual seat track rails... if those are loose, you're going to get wobbling.

The (4) Torx bolts going from the seat track assembly through the floor pan. Has anyone torqued those down?

Does the upper seat frame have damage to the skeleton? Weak or broken welds? Only way to tell is removal of upholstery.

Aside from what has already been done, there's really no other "check" options left.

Do you happen to know the TQ specs for those bolts?

I have a similar issue that I've not had it looked at yet but I can easily check the TQ on the bolts myself.

Ford provided me with this :

You may also need a Torx 'Plus' bit - check this thread :

WD :like:

Edit - Also check this thread for a trick to remove the plastic covers without marking the surrounding plastic :

The dealer said bolts were tight, they did the TSB did not help. Service mgr originally said might be "J" channel but will not replace. Service mgr did not know about TSB till I mentioned it from this forum. Escalating to Ford is a joke, totally useless, they said try different dealer and that one said no thanks bring it to original dealer. Ford says they have resources but cannot for e dealer to fix. Been to dealer with this 3x, any ideas. Service mgr says not gonna order any parts that he will be responsible to pay for and Ford denied to send parts at their cost.

The other dealer will not service it for this, said take it back to original dealer on a 3 way call with customer service supervisor.

You sir are between a rock and a hard place. If it were me I'd be calling Ford every five minutes until I got a senior supervisor on the phone. I'd tell them that I have a safety related issue that the local dealers will not attempt to repair and that I am going to the local TV media about this.

Now in the meantime you might want to line up a top notch independent/certified mechanic in your area to take a look at it. Yes, it's going to cost you. But at least you may get it fixed. Good luck!
