I recently bought a SCT X4. I only bought it because it can do a crank re-learn, while the N-gauge cannot.

^yup, that's why I went X4 as well. Ngauge can't do that. It's not as slow as people want you to think either. It's maybe a 2-5 min process to flash a tune. And how often are you flashing tunes? Either one is good, but I bought a used x4 off eBay that was unmarried for 200 shipped. Better than the 550-600 for the ngauge and tune packages. Went with AED and couldn't be happier. Car drives and idles and runs exactly like stock, just a hell of a lot more go everywhere.

If you are running a flex fuel tune you may want to go with the ngauge as it has the learn status data available. To perform the crank relearn you can get a married x4 for $100 or less.

I would like to have the NGauge but like the others have said the X4 does crank relearn.

How big of a PIA is it to datalogging with the X4?

x4 is way more time consuming for datalogging, and it only stores 1 at a time , once you load a config, or you have to keep a laptop in the car.

the ngauge is much much nicer, imo. but it's all what you want, you also have the ability to leave it mounted in the car out of the way if you choose to leave it in.

let me know we can help you either way.

Is there a trade in policy for moving from X4 to Ngauge?

problem with dealing used parts from a dealer standpoint is if something doesn't work, or there is an issue, there is no warranty to extend to the customer, and puts us on the hook.

whereas new products will have mfg warranty to stand behind

I like the nguage because like Beef said,u can data log with just the nguage and get multiple logs. However i like the sct software for viewing logs better then the nguage. Both of them u need a laptop to really get a good view of your datalogs. With the x4 it can be a pain having the programmer and laptop hooked up while doing your pass.

I feel that the SCT is a better bang for your buck.

I do not need anything fancy looking because I do not keep things plugged into my OBDII. I've learned the hard way that it's a great way to keep yourself from truly enjoying your car because you become obsessed with checking the monitors and paranoia over "what does that mean". I use them to tune, and log and that's it.

I think that is where the nGuage accels, is logging. You can run multiple logs on it. The SCT you can only record 1 log file, otherwise you connect it to a laptop using software to run the logs. Aside from that, I don't really think there is much more to it besides you can do ghost cam from the nGuage if that's your thing.
