Which one, I used the one in Orange County and they did a great job.

The one I used for a BMW M3 wheel.

I never pushed my business here because I wasn’t a vendor. I‘m still on the website for Bakersfield. It’s like pulling teeth to get me off. I retired June 1st and still get calls and quote requests daily. I don’t mind it as I just refer to known quality shops in LA. When I move to Wyoming I’m changing my number 😉.
Plenty of mobile hacks, none offer a lifetime guarantee.
Costs to get into the franchise I was involved in weeded out the hacks. Don’t get me wrong, when you‘re dealing with employees, stuff happens.
There are mobile wheel repair businesses and there are mobile wheel repair businesses. Ours were professionally done inside an enclosed mobile shop. No spraying outside in the elements. Wheels came off, first cleaned outside then brought into shop and detail cleaned a second time. Repair made then off to a downdraft paint booth, just as would be done at a remanufacturing facility.
The “on the car repair” guys are done with the repair before we are able to get a wheel ready for repair.

Your OE warranty doesn’t have a lifetime guarantee on the painted surfaces.

The wife scraped the back wheel today. Anyone with experience / suggestions on whether can be fixed? I looked quickly online and I think a new wheel is like $450 a pop.

You know in the interim you can just do a light sanding and some black touch up paint. I just did that with my SVE X500 wheel using Subaru bright silver paint and it matches pretty darn good.

Even a black magic marker will hide it somewhat, temporarily.

I recently had a wheel repaired as well as having the entire set refinished in glossy black (they were originally glossy graphite).

I’ve used this company in the past ( https://wheelrepairsolutions.com/) and they’ve always done amazing work.

For my wheels they stripped, repaired, powder coated and applied the gloss coating all for $150 per wheel. They look fantastic.

Man, you got lucky with that bend, right between the spokes so it can be repaired. Wheels look great.
What is this gloss coating they speak of? Powder can be all kinds of gloss all on its own, no coating necessary.
Now go get some gloss black Ford center caps 😉
Why didn’t they powder the barrel of the wheels? Strange.

I clean the rash with Acetone, then fill it with Bondo. Mask off the nearby areas, then sand until it is smooth and matches the surrounding profile. Then either paint with nail polish, or spray paint. It is pretty hard to even find the bad spot from a few feet away.

I know some readers will gasp about this. But after you've scraped more than one wheel, and even trying so hard to be careful all the time, there is still a small chance that you will pick up another scrape. So paying for a pro can really add up over time.

Wheels have a hard life in general and their appearance degrades a little over time anyway, so I no longer obsess about them looking new forever.

It’s really cool to watch a tech that knows what there doing do a job. It looks effortless.
Agreed 100%. That's why on every $1000 paint job it's $100 worth of paint and $900 worth of knowing how to spray it. The guys that fixed my dumpster fire of a hood from Vicrez were masters.

Man, I'm way to anal for this. I would have already ordered a new wheel, same day.

EVERY time I've had anyone else do any work, especially refinish work, on any car related thing, I've been disappointed.

Not bad, fix it yourself.. Thats the beauty of GLOSS black wheels.. Toothbrush damaged area with dawn detergent, dry off, use a Q-tip w alcohol clean damaged area thoroughly, air dry.. Then get any black gloss spray paint and apply with good brush. Let dry, then paint it again 2 or 3x.. eventually after 3 days drying, apply some wax to area. Call it a day!

I assumed they did a gloss coating, didn’t know that could just be the powder coating by itself.

As for the barrels, they did powder coat them in glossy black. Looks like they are just reflecting the concrete floor in that photo.

Well the good news is they did a great job of fixing the rash. Can’t even tell where on the wheel it was. Place was called crimson wheel repair in Edison for anyone in central Jersey.

Bad news is found out my front tires are on their last legs. Inside fronts are worn. How does that happen? Too much negative camber from the factory?

Good thing you caught that. Definitely needs the alignment done.
