I would also like to add that when using the UPR Catch cans, our difusser techonology is picking up oil as well as moistuer as I mentioned in the post above. Ours also works with the factory PCV system so it stays closed as when it's not in vacuum (WOT or in boost)

Here is our basic can:

Now, we also have our larger single valve can which mounts by the radiator. This allows more flow to the engine which will make it harder for anything to get into the manfiold. With the larger diffuser, you will pick up more contaminates.

My understanding is that the PCV system is designed to suck air and vaporized oil from the crankcase into the intake. The car then ingests the vaporized oil and burns it, which is better for the environment than letting it vent naturally and better for performance than letting it stay sealed up in the crankcase. So, when working properly, it should be pulling some small amount of oil vapor into the intake.

IMO, MFRs don't include catch cans because they are a maintenance item that most owners would not want to bother with. It's far more convenient to let the oil get burned up.

I think if you have a direct injected engine, a separator could be very useful, because there is no gasoline vapor running through the intake to keep things clean. On a port injected engine, I think the separator is less important because the fuel flow does a great job in preventing buildup on the valves.

However, the catch cans still look very nice, and they do separate most/all of the oil out of the air, so you get the benefits of the PCV system without any fear of what the oil might be doing to your intake. The systems aren't really that expensive, so I see no issue with getting one for peace of mind and for looks.
