Figured it was time to post my build up. I have always been an import guy owned a couple 240sx's, 2016 wrx, then a 2017 sti. I worked with a guy who was big into grudge racing on the street and all he talked about was how good and fast the s550 mustangs were. So in october 2016 I talked my wife into a manual 2017 base model mustang GT, mistakingly thinking I would be able to do what I wanted to it but once she fell in love with it she only wanted it babied lol. The Subaru got old fast was not the car i had always thought it would be and honestly not worth the money. Fast forward to January 2018 I went to the dealership where we had bought my wife's car and they found me a 2015 premium performance pack GT at an auction in atlanta with 20k miles on it for right under 30k decided it was the one I wanted so we bought it.

Basically the first 4 months of ownership I just drove the car. I drive 150 miles a day so miles added up quick. In april a buddy of mine was instructing at a beginner drift event that was hosted in the parking lot of a local drag strip. He talked me into coming out to see what level of car control and how well I could control a car with more power because he is finishing up my 240sx build and was going to tune the car power wise accordingly. My instagram is @rekt_s550 there are plenty of videos on there and will be more coming.

Unfortunately later that month I was headed to work and hit standing water and hydroplaned into the center of the interstate and smashed my rear with the wires that stop you from crossing over. I tried to go through the insurance unfortunately at the time my wife was the only driver on the policy (totally my fault) so instead of trying to fight the insurance company in an issue I could not win I had the car towed over to my shop. Car had sat and the tow yard for a week so between that and both tow bills cost me 1100$ to have it delivered. Once i took some measurements and got a good look at the car most of the damage was done to the driver side suspension and as far as I could and to this day tell the chassis was not tweaked in anyway. So i took off work for 2 days drove 7 hours 1 way to Lyons, GA to the parts farm and bought an entire replacement rear subframe for 700$ vs 1000$ in parts from Ford. I went with a 3:55 rearend since I already had the 3:73 torsen and it's about 300$ or so cheaper for the 3:55. I am still running the 3:55 rear saving the 3:73 for when the lsd gives up. On my second day I took off work I went ahead and jumped in taking the old subframe out and replacing it with the new one. Only experience I have with this was doing the subframe bushings on my 240 which is good but the s550 has bolts and not studs to mount the subframe which I have to admit it's pretty annoying to line up, so after Ford wanted 300$ to alignn it I just ordered steeda alignment bushings. At this point the car was drivable again.

The accident ripped the evap system from out under the car so it was in limp mode. I reached out to Lund racing and power by the hour performance to see about having the evap just deleted vs replacing the whole system. Luckily PBH makes a block off plate for coyote swaps which I went with that and a custom tune from Lund where the evap is turned off and I added the flex fuel option is all. Couple weeks later my wife and I were at import alliance talladega for their first event for a 2 day drift event. Unfortunately I couldn't get my tires mounted the second day so I spent the whole day roll racing pit road, turned out to be a fantastic day even though I didn't get on the drift course lol 35 roll down the entire pit lane with a hellcat, frame before I was ahead this frame he was who crossed the line first ‍♂ but a tune only 5.0 vs hellcat from a roll that's a win to me lol

Since I still had 4 tires left over from import alliance I got talked into going to midpond the next weekend, I was running Mobil 1 synthetic in the car at talladega and actually ran the car hot, so for midpond I tried to order Lucas 5w50 recommended by JTP but just didn't have time I went to a local napa and picked up liquimoly 5w40 since it was the thickest viscosity they had in 5L/QT and my God it's phenomenal been running it for 40k miles almost now. Midpond was by far the best event I have been to at this point which I've only done 3 but I have a bunch more planned for this year since the car has gone from bone stock at my last 3 to fully built before my next one. Even bone stock I was able to consistently link the whole course at midpond. Tracks are so much better than parking lots lol View attachment 336459

With midpond being my last event of the year and me realizing the potential of this car I really got into researching and planning my build. Not all mods are for drifting the car is still daily driven 1000 miles a week lol I added an MGW x-spec shifter, bmr solid rear differential busbings, delrin subframe bushings, gt350 rear brembo brakes with functioning drum parking brake, jlt passenger catch can, KC welds custom s550 drag dump exhaust, xxr 527 18inch wheels( few hours on the PP and gt350 calipers with a flap disk to make them fit under 18s), act 6 puck sprung hub race clutch, oem flywheel, oem slave cylinder, Ben calimer recommended amsoil transmission fluid and syncromesh, MMR oil pump gears, chain sprocket, billet tensioners, and billet chain guides, mishimoto oil cooler kit, mishimoto radiator, BC BR coilovers. Current I have all SPL front suspension arms and have sent my Knuckles off to Russell Walker out in Texas to have them modified for more steering angle. Thanks to member @badhaircutted for the tip on the front suspension. Tried to include everything while not making it to long but that is currently where I am in the build have 3 events planned between February and March but my wife has been out of work for the government shutdown so we will see lol

Just some random extra random stuff I figured I'd add. The car did 12.4 @ 114 In the 1/4 on tune/shifter only with my 275/40/18 Federals that's been on the car for 6 months they're nothing special lol.

Also a couple pictures of my s14 240sx
Ka24de-t/cd009 transmission
Basically built from the ground up to drift but now probably going to daily since the mustang has transitioned to drifting lol

Also a couple of pictures of my exhaust I forgot lol
Almost 70k miles of abuse the car has perfect compression accross the board and found out my engine build date is stamped on the block behind the timing cover, which I thought was pretty cool

This is sick!
Thanks bro! I'm so glad I came across your thread about angle, I had almost given up on angle because it was going to cost me to much to change my brake setup for jtps. Russell literally has my knuckles right now I'm so excited to get this thing back on The track. And am also waiting on Jonathan nerren to make another set of overfenders and get them shipped to me so I can get the rear end fixed. Going with a setup like Shane whalley with the ls550

Just a small update, I received my knuckles, spl sway bar links, and tie rod spacers today. So whenever I get a day off I plan to install and update!

Got the kit installed over the weekend and the car aligned today. My final alignment specs are,
Front: -3.5 camber/7.5 degrees caster/0 Toe
Rear: -2.7(ran out of adjustment w/stock arms)/0 Toe
I have an event scheduled at midpond in Birmingham, Alabama on the 24th of this month and a 2 day event at Talladega Grand Prix track in munford, Alabama on the 23&24 of March. Am going to try and get alot of media from those 2 events!
