I just took delivery of a GT Premium with the performance pack and Recaro's just over a month ago. I thought I would share the progress of the build with you guys. The goal with the car is to get it to 500 naturally aspirated HP which we should be able to get close with the standard bolt ons. I will also be performing some standard exterior cosmetic add-ons as well. For audio upgrades, will be performing a "factory" style upgrade with components from the Audison Prima line. Here is what I have currently done to the car:
  • lowered with Eibach springs
  • JLT intake and SCT tuner
  • Magnaflow street cat back system
  • Upgraded all non LED lighting with Diode Dynamics LED's
  • Roush heat extractors on the hood (painted to match the car)
  • installed T-Rex flat black billet grills
  • Redline hood struts
  • Tinted the windows with our Solar Gard 40% ceramic film. Windshield will be done as well once dealer installs new windshield (long story)
  • ESCORT 9500ci integrated radar system with display in the rear view mirror
Here are the things to be done over the next 2 months:
  • Kooks long tube headers. Then goes to Portland for dyno tuning
  • Vossen VFS-1 wheels (sitting in my office waiting to go on. Might powder coat in bronze)
  • 3D Carbon carbon fiber body kit in place of the factory ABS kit on the car
  • Front mounted camera integrated into the factory navigation screen (keep me from hitting the kit on curbs.)
  • Hushmat sound deadening in the doors and along the floor
  • Complete audio upgrade with the Audison Prima line of components
  • Steeda "No Hop" kit for the rear suspension
  • short throw shifter (not sure which one yet)
  • Ceramic Pro coating once we are done with all of the changes to the car.
Here are some pics of the progress so far

I will post more as we complete each step.

Awesome! Love the radar detector, and interested to see how you integrate a front camera!

All I can say is wow! Gorgeous car and you're off to a great start with your build.

I can't wait to see this come alive.

If you ever need anything, I'm just a PM away.

Great progress!

How was the T-rex grill install? Would love more details on that. I can't tell if it even comes with mounting hardware, it just looks they cut it to size. Did it completely replace the stock grill?

Also, the concealed radar detector display is slick! Do you have any pics/instructions on the install? Is that a DIY or off the shelf rearview mirror?

the grill installs were straight forward. No cutting. The factory grill shell comes out pretty easily. The lower grill covers the stock stuff. The radar display is not a DIY. The company that does this for us (I own an audio shop) is located in Texas. Their web site is radar-mirror.com.

Finally got the wheel and tire part of the build done last week. Took way longer than expected due to the wheels being on backorder with Vossen and the front tire size being discontinued with Pirelli. Finally got the last set of the wheels from Vossen's Canadian distributor.

wheels- Vossen VFS-1 20x10.5 and 20x9
tires- Pirelli PZero 305/35/20 and 275/35/20

It was a long day on Friday, but well worth it. I installed the 3D Carbon carbon fiber kit on my project. Exterior is done for now. Time to move back onto the performance and audio upgrades.

Great looking car !Subtle changes but very effective. The lack of the black pp wheels and the addition of the Vossens is fabulous .
