I just took delivery of a GT Premium with the performance pack and Recaro's just over a month ago. I thought I would share the progress of the build with you guys. The goal with the car is to get it to 500 naturally aspirated HP which we should be able to get close with the standard bolt ons. I will also be performing some standard exterior cosmetic add-ons as well. For audio upgrades, will be performing a "factory" style upgrade with components from the Audison Prima line. Here is what I have currently done to the car:
  • lowered with Eibach springs
  • JLT intake and SCT tuner
  • Magnaflow street cat back system
  • Upgraded all non LED lighting with Diode Dynamics LED's
  • Roush heat extractors on the hood (painted to match the car)
  • installed T-Rex flat black billet grills
  • Redline hood struts
  • Tinted the windows with our Solar Gard 40% ceramic film. Windshield will be done as well once dealer installs new windshield (long story)
  • ESCORT 9500ci integrated radar system with display in the rear view mirror
Here are the things to be done over the next 2 months:
  • Kooks long tube headers. Then goes to Portland for dyno tuning
  • Vossen VFS-1 wheels (sitting in my office waiting to go on. Might powder coat in bronze)
  • 3D Carbon carbon fiber body kit in place of the factory ABS kit on the car
  • Front mounted camera integrated into the factory navigation screen (keep me from hitting the kit on curbs.)
  • Hushmat sound deadening in the doors and along the floor
  • Complete audio upgrade with the Audison Prima line of components
  • Steeda "No Hop" kit for the rear suspension
  • short throw shifter (not sure which one yet)
  • Ceramic Pro coating once we are done with all of the changes to the car.
Here are some pics of the progress so far

I will post more as we complete each step.
Does the adaptive cruise control work with that lower grill?

I took the car on it's first road trip (and first chance to use the adaptive system) and the adaptive cruise control worked great

Very cool. So you just put the T-Rex lower grill over the stock lower grill? And by the way beautiful car.

Just got done adding some more goodies. Had my Ford dealer install my Barton short throw(which I love the feel of), Steeda bump steer kit and Steeda K brace. I don't really have that great of pics being that I didn't install this round of products. I will be putting a different shift knob on. I had a white one to put on but the tech cracked it so I need to get a new one.

Did you notice a problem with bump steer after lowering? I've read a lot of threads where people are lowing but no one seems to be encountering, or at least talking about, any bump steer. I was considering adding the Steeda bump steer kit as well when my springs go in. Did it help you?

I had noticed a little after lowering the car. I haven't really gotten to drive the car much after picking it up last night. The little bit of driving I have done, the front end feels far more planted. That could also have something to do with the K brace as well.

jealous of your radar install... have been eyeing the same one for a few months now.

good to know about the red color upgrade. did you get the gentex mirror?

are you running laser shifters just in the front? or back as well?

did you consider the sti-r plus at all?

There is no reason to get the gentex mirror. I sent them my factory mirror. I am an ESCORT dealer and in all my own testing I feel the 9500ci responds the best. Besides, BEL is owned by ESCORT so a lot of the technology is shared between the two lines. They also just purchased COBRA as well. I am only running shifters in the front due to where I live. Rear shifters are only needed in areas where the police will do speed traps by sitting on overpasses and shooting the vehicles as they go by. I live in a rural part of Oregon so we don't need to worry about that. Even when I go to big cities it has never been an issue. Besides, they look ugly on the back of the car.

I know Escort owns Bel. The brains are identical, the only difference I'm aware of (and why I asked) is Bel seems to be able to manually block out diff KBand ranges where the Escort cant. Also the Bel comes in red display rather than blue
