Hey all!

I took the trim off where the main control unit is for the headlights/fog lights, along with the side trim piece (that feeds air to the drivers door) to run a wire for my Ngauge up by the A pillar for a suction mount. When I took the trim out I noticed quite a bit of rust back there forming on the metal bits. Car is a 2017 with 7,200 miles on it. Is this normal? I’m concerned that there might be water leaking somewhere.

Thanks

That is normal since those brackets are not coated. Many pick-up truck frames and axle housings look the same for the same reason. It’s usually not harmful to the integrity of the metal.

I have seen BMWs do the same thing. I sprayed some light oil on a rag and wiped all the raw metal behind my mustang dash that I could get too.
Yip, I need pills !
