Ok, I'm trying to install the Boomba short throw shifter on my '17 GT Premium/PP and according to the video and installation instructions, the task of removing the rubber shift boot (under the faux leather one) is a matter of lifting up and removing a zip tie.

Well maybe I got the updated version of the car because I can't for the life of me figure out how to get that boot out of there. It appears to be bigger than the one in the video, and secured to the panel underneath. I also do not see any zip tie holding it on. Brute force does not seem to be working.

Anyone ever had a need to remove this from a late '17 GT? I can only guess that the config has changed since the installation instructions were written.

ETA: here's a pic:

If it is like mine (one piece and no zip tie), it is sandwiched between the metal. You have to grab a pry tool and slowly pry out the tucked in edge under the metal.

Just took mine off the other day. Couldn’t figure it out until I got under the car to remove the stock shifter. There’s a split in the rubber seal that the sheet metal on the body sits in. I had an easier time pushing the top of the boot down and breaking the seal from the sheet metal and then pulling it back up through the hole

Yea I just smashed the tool down onto the boot and did it. Worked but little pain in the ass.
