I’m on the fense on which car to buy. I am looking at a 2015 Roush Stage 3 and a 2017 GT350. I would just buy the GT350 but all of the oil and reliability issues have made me second guess that decision. I’m going to use the car as a weekend summer car that will get a few track nights per year. I am just a novice track driver so I don’t need to be the fastest person on the track. It’s hard to find much info on the Roush Stage 3 as far as how well it handles with the Roush single coil suspension upgrade. I also can’t find much on how durable the supercharged engine is and what the reliability would be like on the Roush. I know it will not be planted like the GT350 but I would have to think it’s better than the GT PP1, right? BTW, I also have the Boss 302 on my list.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

You sound more like a Stingray guy. Feel free to go buy a 15-17 Stingray.

I’d go with a GT350 for a secondary car. The Roush is probably faster, but, the sound of that flat plane crank V8 on the Shelby is one of the best sounding exhaust notes out there.

You are rolling the dice on used muscle cars. Not sure you can compare new reliability possibilities on cars that were quite possibly beat on (as they should). If you want to have a car with some insurance of it being reliable or at least little out of pocket money, buy new or get a Honda or Toyota.

GT350 is a complete package. The Roush will be quicker in a straight line and good, certainly, but definitely not as sorted or as easy to extract performance as the GT350.

Or, buy a GT350 from CarMax with one of their warranty plans. :p

If it were me, definitely the 350. I would research as much as I could on prior warranty work, problems etc. and if you can talk to the previous owner. With the price of a Roush car I would rather find a good clean base GT and mode it to my needs. But, I’m not a fan of mark up cars like a Roush.

You need to drive both cars and see which one you have to have. The gt350 did not impress me but you might love it. I would order a new car and mod it to your exact likeing.

I hear what your saying, I’m coming from an M3 and all everyone talks about is the rod bearing issues. It really only affects a small number of cars but the forums make it sound like the car is a ticking time bomb. I’ve spoken with local dealers and Indy’s and none of them have ever even come across an M3 with the issue. I’m just curious how well the GT motors holds up to the supercharger. There is not much talk on the RS3.

I agree that apples to apples I’d take the GT350 any day. I’ve been coming across some low mileage RS3’s in the low $40’s with under 10K miles. It got me thinking if I should grab one and put a few dollars into improving the suspension. I would never spend the same money or more for an RS3. I also think a little about resale on an RS3. I know most cars are not an investment, but in 2-3 years I would like to recoup some of my money so I can move to the next fun car. In normal times a GT350 would hold up well on depreciation but with all the negative chatter perception becomes reality and people will start avoiding these cars.

I'd go for the GT 350! The Roush may be quicker but the GT 350 is the better overall car and is the best looking mustang ever!

Unfortunately it's tough to get the GT350 in the environment it shines in on a test drive. You need to be pushing it on a back road or the track, and then it all makes sense. On the street my car feels noticeably quicker.

Just watched a bunch of those BMW M3's at the Numbering.. they have about a 50% crash rate. From professionals to amateurs doesn't seem to matter. Makes you wonder what's going on there.
