Update...

Sitting in traffic after work today, IAT crept up to around 115, ambient was 76. Temperature climbed pretty quick but interesting enough, dropped back down just as fast once I started moving again. Where as the stock intake would warm up and stay warm, taking longer to recover.

So far so good.

has anyone run into any water issues with the open top and access to the heat extractor? any reported horror stories thus far?

I checked for water after getting caught in a downpour the other day. Slight evidence of water droplets (dry) where it says "ROUSH" in the box but nothing was wet. I was constantly moving so I really can't see how a whole lot would make it down the vent anyways. Trying to figure how to get a tune so I can take the insert out...without my wife knowing.

From this thread I ended up buying this intake and should have it tomorrow. Thanks for posting pictures of your setup.

*UPDATE*

To prepare for my LT headers and nGauge that I recently purchased from Beefcake, I removed the insert out of my Roush intake today. I will have to do some datalogging for this setup per Lund. Removing the insert is easy. Take the MAF sensor out along with the (2) size 15 torx screws, then slide the insert out. Put the screws back in so you don't create a leak of un-measured air into the intake.

I'm interested in the Roush. I like being able to use the stock tune and remove the insert for when I tune later. And I like the fact it reaches under the hood vent. Anyone have any clips of how it sounds?

What about water intrusion to the filter? It looks like it could be a problem especially when stopped and a Florida afternoon thunderstorm.
Anyone have a problem with JLT's or Roush?
Do like the Roush because it has the best of both worlds with your choice of 85MM or 105MM intake tube options. Roush also tells you the gains without the tune

Meaning that it is sealed before the hood vent, so water will not get on the Air filter? Looking for a cold air intake, that i do not have to worry about getting water on the air filter. It seems all cold air intakes require a tune to get max performance? but i do not want to void my warranty at this point.

From my research, you should never have any issue with water intrusion from rain or or spray from a water hose. The only time this would be an issue is if the intake is submerged in water.

Reviews I have seen say that the filter and "box" sits under the hood vent. I assume some water would drip down into that area. But I highly doubt you would see enough to have any issues. The filter would pretty much have to be submerged to have any real issues. You could always add a pre filter, which is basically like a thin sock that covers the filter to protect from water. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/AEM-Filter-Problem-Solution-Sucking/dp/B00C2TF7C8

They also note that this one does not require a tune if the restrictor is left in, while you can remove the restrictor with an accompanying tune to get the most gains out of it.
