On the Roush there is no seal between the filter and the hood vent. a portion of any water coming in the hood vent will end up in the front of the air box and catch small area of the filter. There is a small drain hole in the bottom of the air box. If you take a flashlight and look straight down through the air you can see where the water will end up.

I'm looking for a CAI and I want the roush, just had a couple of clarification questions.

I wouldn't have to tune the car yet, and i'd still gain the 10hp? Is this good for a completely stock GTPP?

The temperatures never reach harmful levels? even when sitting in traffic (I do about 1hr each way in decently heavy stop-n-go traffic).

The hole at the bottom of the Intake will drain whatever water pours in from the extractor? I've got similar problems as Florida, we have random torrential downpours so that might be a bit of a concern.

Thanks guys and it looks great by the way OP

Meaning that it is sealed before the hood vent, so water will not get on the Air filter? Looking for a cold air intake, that i do not have to worry about getting water on the air filter. It seems all cold air intakes require a tune to get max performance? but i do not want to void my warranty at this point.
+1, I'd do a CAI if the gains were proven with no tune.

Just ordered from Team Beefcake. I went with the Roush after months of wavering. At first I was thinking I'd go with JLT+Lund tune, but I'm not really ready to either drop the cash or mess with factory settings. Then I saw the new AEM no-tune kit, and that seemed good but the filter looks so small. The Roush is the best compromise because of that removable insert. When I'm ready to tune, I'll tune.

The wait begins!

Installed the Roush CAI last week and feel it was the best bang for the buck. May do a tune some day but not interested at this time so I like the idea of being able to go from 85mm to 105mm if I ever do decide to tune. Had tunes on my Corvettes and they can be come a PITA at times.
I did pour some water in the vent and it will hit a small part of the filter but I don't think it will be a serious problem. At this point I'm very happy with my purchase.:)

Nice CAI. I am looking also at the CAI but my question is about the possibility of rain water from the hood vent dripping and running right on top of the filter. Have you had any problem with a wet filter or is this an issue I should not be worried about.
Thanks... Grandpa Bill... Austin, Tx.

No worries at all. Even if your car sits out in the rain.

According to Roush it isn't a problem but like I said it can wet the corner of the filter. I doubt it would be a serious problem. I believe the only time you will get any volume of water is when it is setting.

On the other side of the coin you get rid of the ridiculous sound pipe cluttering the engine bay and the mechanical engine noise it pipes in and regain the way an engine should sound when you get on it.
Even the exhaust sounds better with the sound pipe gone. Between the tires and the sound pipe it fast became very annoying. I'm not interested in a noisy car at cruise.

I've never understood what removing the sound pipe will do. Will I not hear as much of the engine? I mean, it sounds great, so why would I want to hear less of it?

Got my Roush CAI in the mail today from Beefcake. Great deal and great to deal with. I'll have it on this weekend! First mod.

UPDATE: installed the CAI this morning. Everything was fairly straightforward except the sound tube delete. Wow. Wow. Let me tell you that you better be ready for that - read some other threads - because the Roush instructions make it sound like it's just another bolt to remove. Not that easy. But I dealt with it and got the rest of the thing installed. The hardest part is actually removing the stock airbox lid alone like Roush instructs. Forget that and just remove the entire airbox in one unit. Not sure why the lid alone is a better way to remove - I couldn't get it out.

Also, it's an incredibly large unit for the space. You'll fit it, but don't expect an inch of extra room.

DRIVING UPDATE: uh, is it normal if it's 75° and breezy and my IAT reaches 158° while idling for 5 minutes? While driving at like 40mph it's still a solid 90°. Kinda worried.

From my research, you should never have any issue with water intrusion from rain or or spray from a water hose. The only time this would be an issue is if the intake is submerged in water.
This is not true, my car sat for a few days while it rained pretty heavy, didn’t think anything about it started it one morning by the time I shifted into second it started back firing went into limp mode and scared the shit out of me. Brought it back home to find water in the intake housing. After drying it out everything was fine. It will throw codes and cause your vehicle to go into limp mode if not properly plugged during rain.

So I've had this thing installed for 6 years now (9/25/15), parked outside 100% of the time, and haven't had any water issues like that. I don't have any advice, but this car has been exposed to heavy rain, storms, tropical storms, blizzards....no problems with leakage. Just my personal experience.
