Hello everyone! I'm so very glad that I found this forum as ive had a lot of questions about modding and have gathered a ton of info from here already. However, I have one inquiry that wasn't specifically addressed in any threads that I saw.

I have a 2016 GT that I put a Roush axle-back exhaust on. I want the volume a little higher but I've heard that an X-Pipe is a bit overkill. Would an H-Pipe with a resonator delete up the volume or will it just make it drone and not actually increase noise levels at all? I'm not really looking to change out my axle-backs so I'm at a point of finding the right set of pipes to go along with it. Or, should I consider an X-Pipe with a resonator? What is the opinions of the experts here?

I would consider adding a Borla touring resonator.

+1 to this. It's a 2 dB increase over the stock resonator, vs. about 7-8 db for an X or H pipe resonator delete.

The H-pipe will do all 3 - will up the volume all around, add a slight bit of drone on highway speeds, and will get you a louder mustang.

I was in the same position you were in not too long ago - just get the H-pipe lol.

So it sounds like the H-pipe is a given with an optional Borla resonator as well. Now will any H-Pipes work or are there ones better than others?

An H or X pipe will increase the volume in the range of 30-40%, FYI...not just a step up, more like 2 or 3.

All of the H-pipes will sound the same.

So Stripes, I take it you're happy with your exhaust decision?

Also, is there any precautions I should know when shopping for H-Pipes?

Is this a direct replacement for an AM x pipe or would it be kind of custom at that point?

The only thing it's a direct bolt-up replacement for is the Borla X-pipe that comes with the S-type or ATAK catbacks. That said, it's probably very close for most aftermarket X-pipes.

An H-pipe with Roush mufflers will be loud and it will drone.

I'd recommend an Xpipe (J&M or Ford Performance) with the Corsa Touring or Borla S-Type mufflers.

I have the Roush AB and the Heartthrob H pipe. I love how it sounds. I don't even feel that it drones much.

I did an X pipe with 2 Dynomax bullet resonators with my Roush axleback. Amazing difference and the car sounds fantastic. Perfect volume level.
