Rotating PP Tires

I bought my car in June '18 with the staggered Pzeros (GT PP). I had to buy winter tires (bought dedicated wheels too) so I made that swap around November. Yesterday I decided it was time to put my summers back on and had been debating rotating them. I realize since they are 255 and 275 I can't do a traditional corner rotation, but I could not find anything out there or on the tire that said they were directional, all I could see was "outside" and "inside" on the tire. I ended up rotating them from the position I bought the car in, side to side, so what was previously my front left is now my front right, and what was my rear left is now my rear right.

Drove it today and it seemed different, but I'm thinking that's just because I've driven on my winter tires for the past 4 months.

Anyone do the same rotation? I've read a lot of posts out there saying these can't be rotated, or that you'd have to dismount the tire from the wheel to rotate them, but I am assuming they mean in the corner to corner sense.

I would highly recommand you to put them back where they originaly were. A tire doesn't have a base rotating way. But when they are put on one side for x miles, they internaly start installing themself and have pressure on the same side. Inner rubber starts being "used" in that way. Reversing them is like making them use in the other way. On a car like yours, no rotation should be done. On a square setup, the only one you can do is front-back. Never a left-right rotation.

As long as "Outside" is on the outside, and "Inside" is on the inside, you should be fine.

This sounds like exactly why you'd want to rotate though, right?

As long as the tires are non-directional, it is fine to rotate side to side with a staggered setup. In fact, the manual shows that quite clearly.

It might sound nonsense for someone who doesn't know a lot about how a tire is built. But for someone who is daily job is actually building tires it makes lots of sense.

The only reason to rotate your tire is to equal your thread who would use more from back to front.

Like I wrote, internally the tire "places" itself and runs on one side. When it start rotating at high speed on the other side, the tire is suffering more heat from the internal structure.

I don't think everyone will be happy about my explainations but I know what I'm talking about. It's my job.

Rotated my staggered set side to side a couple of times with no issues... However, might want to ditch those 2 piece Ford OEM lug nuts though while you are at it, they are junk. I had a several that the outer SS decorative cover distorted slightly and my socket would no longer fit over them. Went to next size up socket and promptly broke the socket and rounded off the edges of the lug nut. Just do a search and you will see the scope of the problem. Ford is actually getting sued for this problem. Replaced with McGard one piece, USA made, guaranteed for life lug nuts.

Ok, maybe I should have said it doesn't really matter? While it might not be complete nonsense, it doesn't make much difference.

Torque biasing is another reason... which the PP cars have in the Torsen T2R. In fact, side-to-side rotation is called out in the owners manual.
