For the people that got it replaced already. Is the inner roof liner replaced or the whole roof is replaced?

Im getting my car back after the weekend, as I'm in uae / Abu dhabi. They don't have the part here and the parts Will arrivé december they tell me.some I'm picking it up for now.

And as far as I know they only replace the inner roof. For me Till now.... that didn't help as the problem was every time back with in 2 week to 1 mount.

But let's hope this time it will stay ok.
As they say here " inshalla " ( if God wants it) .

And also the right rear window problem will be fixed hopefully ( its not closing fully )

So will be replaced under warranty. Parts on order and they will call in a specialist to replace the liner.

Have you tried silicone spray for the rear window problem?

I dont know what they tried the first time for the window some time ago, but the car was smelling like a car that is burning oil. And it's still warranty. I dont want touch the car... jet. And there is a other topic here for the rear windows that more people have problems with.

For who wants a update...

I got my car back , for now. As I'm living in uae/abu dhabi some parts are not available in a shot time so my car will got back around dec when the parts are here.

The info a got to fix the roof problem for my car is that they will change ( again ) the inner roof and the new inner roof will have, or they will ad elastic bands / springs to help the covers slide in, and not get stuck between the metal frame any more.

Hopefully it will ceep work properly after that

Got the mustang back. Took a day and a half. Inner liner looks good, much firmer then before. The only bad thing is the new liner gives of a horrible chemical smell.

Glad it's back and looking good. Mine's still in the shop. They can't figure out how to fix the ticking sound in the driver's side latch area. At least I'm in a loaner and not draining my bank account through Uber rides.

I’ve had a broken strap (pic), rear windows fixed twice, A-pillar leak fixed twice and leaking again. I also have multiple frayed straps and the headliner on the driver’s side often gets caught on the wrong side of the mechanism when closing. I have to open the top half way and readjust it. These are only the problems I’ve had related to the top.

This isn’t my first Mustang, but this purchase was specifically for a convertible. The selling point for the Mustang was the simplicity of this top compared to every other convertible available right now. I planned to keep it for 8-10 years and thought this top would be a lot less maintenance. I’m really glad that my hatred for leather drove me to buy the V6. If I had spent $50K on a GT, I’d be demanding a full refund. The quality is nothing like my mother-in-law’s Mercedes C300 for the same price, and it has the import markup. I won’t be buying domestic again for a while. My 7yr old Highlander hasn’t had a single problem, NOT ONE.

My top was replaced prior to delivery as there was a really bad stitching error on the original. Otherwise, I either lucked out or Ford sorted things out for 2018, as I have not had a single issue with my top, except for the tension strap falling off in the trunk, as a result of (likely) the top shop breaking one of the retaining tabs. I wasn’t going to take it to the dealer for that, so I just put a screw through a hole in the tab that conveniently lined up with a hole in the sheet metal. I also have not had any issue with the rear windows.

I have owned lots of convertibles. I always put the top up when I'm not driving it. I was told to do this by the top shop that replaced the top on my 55 Chevy, many years ago. I have never had to replace another top. My Mustang GT top looks brand new.

I have also owned several folding hardtops (BMW, Lexus, Mercedes). They are nice, but add quite a lot of weight. If you are interested in this type of convertible, I recommend the Mercedes SLK55 AMG. The top is plastic and small, so it doesn't weigh a ton.

I've put together a thread on this (link below), it's a painful experience to get it fixed. Took two Ford dealers and over 18 months in the end but I think it's finally sorted just in time for the warranty to end...

I m the one who started the thread. I was able to open the roof just 2 times for short drive since it was changed. First i can hear a big noise when i open it , when it s almost fully opened. It s the big grey platic piece that almost every time is in the wrong side if the mecanism. And i have already some wear marks on the side. So Nothing has changed and it added another issue when i open the roof. Just after the repair i noticed this noise , but dealer told me because it was winter blablabla.

Watch the roof as it passes through the point where you have the issue. Does it make a clicking/notching noise? Does one side seem to catch?

I potentially had the same issue on mine but need a more detail.

Yes exactly this sound. it s only on the driver side for me. But if just before fully opened i put the platic sheet manually on the wright side no sound and the roof is not pinched like the picture i have posted where it is worn on the edge

It's caused by a badly fitted headliner, a new one is needed anyway due to the damage but there we go. They just need to get it right this time round, been there myself with my headliner after a roof change.
