  1. Competent UK Mustang Service?

If you want somewhere to avoid don't go anywhere near Sandicliffe or Allen Ford. They're so bad it's worth going all the way to the south coast if the work you need doing is only possible through a Ford Store, the options are; More West Midlands but Jacksons in Henley-in-Arden look after a...
  2. Lowering Top

You need to have a read of this thread https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/check-your-roof-for-damage-new-tonneau-caps-required.116472/
  3. Convertible top fabric replacement

That'll be why mine was much more expensive, the cost was for the entire roof (mechanism, fabric, labour etc)
  4. My convertible top is stuck half open

I think I've seen somewhere that you can manually close the roof on the Mustang if needed to, I think it said you need to push on the mechanism at the motor end rather than pull on the latch handle. I can't find that information at the moment so could be complete bobbins.
  5. Lowering Top

Don't bother. There's two types of caps, the 'gen 1' which caused the roof damage if used and a lightly modified 'gen 2' version which Ford released and were available on an exchange basis at the dealer. Gen 2's still rubbed and is probably the reason why they stopped supplying them. I've got a...
  6. Ode to my convertible

I'll bring down the average of this thread  I wanted a coupe but the other half wanted a vert, we ended up renting a vert in Florida and when returning to the UK we bought a vert. Even sat in traffic with the roof down it still feels special, popping the roof up is just like being in a...
  7. Convertible top fabric replacement

I'm on the fourth roof all done under warranty, those prices are much less than what it costs in the UK for parts and labour. They also didn't replace just the fabric but the entire assembly (fabric, frame etc) on mine. There's a thread I've made about the tears in the roof being caused by the...
  8. Should I buy a 2022 Mustang Convertible?

The UK is one of the biggest markets for convertibles in general, I was driving round with the roof down in December at night and again in January, February and March; it's surprising how much opportunity there is to go topless in the UK. We've also got a disease of most folk doing 40mph...
  9. Disklock position and indent

Turn it 90 degrees so the "handle" is vertical rather than horizontal and the curved part of the disclok is sat on the curved part of the steering wheel, job jobbed.
  10. Is this a tensioner and what should I do with it ?

Do not, whatever you do, adjust the tension  I've had plenty of experience with them and messing with the tension will make the front edge of the roof go out of alignment and if you get it really wrong the roof won't close all the way forwards.
  11. 21 vert review

Good review! It's nice to see a more balanced review and concentrate more on what the car is about. Interesting, have you got it on yours? Mine doesn't have it (pre-facelift) and I've never felt it needed it even though my other car (not a Ford) does and that makes a big difference to the way...
  12. Thoughts on if my car is totaled?

Firstly, glad you're ok! In the long run I think they've possibly done you a favour. With it needing the quarter panels, possibly a boot floor and a bent frame I'd say there's a reasonable chance your roof won't ever sit right again. They're fussy things and rely on the body being bang on...
  13. Automatic Mustang Kangarooing

The auto's do 'learn' shifting calibrations based on the driver, this constantly adapts as the car ages but the majority is done in the first 50-100 miles or so. It's possible to reset what the gearbox has learned by removing power to it for a short while and forcing a reset that way, then going...
  14. TO KEEP OR SELL ?????

Try the ST, either the Mk7.5 with the ST200 chassis and mountune 215 pack or the newer Mk8. Find one that's not been ragged though, they do exist. I can also back up what Wenklaw said about the Focus ST's, they're a disappointing drive. When we bought our Mustang GT I went from a Fiesta ST to a...
  15. What fuel do you use in your GT?

You'll need to give it a few tanks to run out the old stuff and let the map switch to the new fuel. I find the biggest noticeable difference is not going from 95RON to 99RON but running 99 for several tanks then going back to 95. According to the dash read out my fuel economy has also improved...
  16. What fuel do you use in your GT?

Super unleaded is remaining at E5 but the E10 stuff would work ok in the S550's, just don't leave it sat in the tank for long periods of time or it'll absorb water. Shell V-Power here, definitely runs better. I only bung in 95 when I have to.
  17. Ford Dealer Damaged My Car - Bristol Street Ford Worcester

Ooof, someone is not happy  Lighten up, all I did was offer an explanation as to why even after experiencing issues some people end up having to go back to the same dealer and explain Ford don't always let non Ford stores carry out warranty work
  18. Ford Dealer Damaged My Car - Bristol Street Ford Worcester

I did use the words "excluded from doing a lot of the warranty work on Mustangs", doesn't mean they're excluded from doing all warranty work on Mustangs :like:
  19. Ford Dealer Damaged My Car - Bristol Street Ford Worcester

I specifically requested a non-Ford Store dealer carry out warranty work, I was specifically told to go swivel by Ford, who in turn contacted the dealer and told them to go swivel too.
  20. Ford Dealer Damaged My Car - Bristol Street Ford Worcester

If you've had a problem with a dealer then you have to keep going back to them to get it resolved because they're a franchise and Ford won't move you to another dealer. If you take the car elsewhere yourself you need to pay to get it fixed; you're essentially 'locked in' until any issue is...
