I recently went to NCM and had a track day there. Went easy learning the car still. But it performs amazing. Car drives itself.

Here's a thought, it will be cheaper to buy them now then it will be to replace the tires after. You can always sell the second set when they show up.
That’s what I’m thinking also.

The PS4S & Cup2s last and have good wear with the camber plates. It's not advised to track the car without them, especially if you're anything but a beginner.

Too little camber with too much steering input (from inexperience) will kill tires in most cars.
Does anyone know where to find the recommended camber for the GT500 is -2 still good and would anyone recommend putting control arms in the rear to adjust rear camber as well. I’m far from a good track guy I do it for fun I’m not winning anything ever.

This is part of my fascination with the car. Love cars that are easy to drive at the limit and even better when the limit is fucking fast!

It’s in the GT 500 supplement starting on page 47.

So here are my thoughts.

Firstly, I’ve had a 2016 GT350 & a 2017 GT350R and had multiple track days with both. I’m no pro driver but a reasonably good amateur... perhaps.

Anyway, I picked up my 2020 CFTP and immediately took it for an 8 hour tour of SoCal to get some break in miles on it. Within a couple of days I was heading to Thermal Club. On my way I stopped at Upland Ford to do the first oil change and set the alignment to the more aggressive track spec (specified in the manual). I had already set the wing to the high setting. So by the time I arrived at the track I had about 850 miles and the track set up ready to go.

Keeping in mind I had already tracked the car (at the GT500 Track Tour) I was quite confident to go hard right away. The first session I went out chasing my friend in his Ferrari Pista. I was able to keep the 700hp/3000lb Ferrari in my sights but he was definitely more nimble through corners and quicker getting on it through those apex’s! I didn’t know this particular track configuration very well so was overcooking the chicane and a couple of the slower corners but I was just happy to keep the $350k car in my sights!! Once again, I’m no pro! But after the first session my main takeaway was how confidence inspiring the car is. To simplify, it felt like my R... but with a magic transmission and 300 extra HP!

I invited my good friend Billy Johnson (Yes, that Billy Johnson) to come out that day and he rode shotgun with me for the next session and proceeded to let me know about all the dumb mistakes I was making. LOL! Over the next couple of sessions, with his tutorship, I got between 5-10 seconds quicker per lap! Once you learn how to stop and rotate the car the ability seems endless. It definitely has no weakness regarding brakes and power. By the end of the third session my braking points were much later and I was turning in harder and accelerating quicker from those apexes. I was doing the kind of stuff that a 4000lb car shouldn’t be able to do.

For the last session (4) Billy drove the last few laps and really took it to the next level. He drove my car like he stole it and demonstrated to me the true ability of this car, and his abilities!

Within a half lap of us switching seats he had caught the Pista and overtaken it (in a tight left turn) and pulled away like it was a Prius! We were riding curbs and hitting speeds that had us going quicker than some of the GT2 race cars that day. It was amazing. THEN (I guess he got bored) Billy decided to drift the next couple of laps!! Drifting the carousel at 90mph was quite ridiculous! He danced the car like it was a 720S!! The car felt like a 3500lb car when I was driving. It felt like a 3000lb car with Billy at the helm!

My takeaways are these...
1: How controllable the car is in the limit. In track mode you can put down all 760hp and if the back end goes out it’s very easy to keep it in check.
2: How amazing the brakes are. Lap after lap stopping the car from 140+ to 30 with zero fade or issues. In fact, they got better and better as the sessions progressed.
3: The car is so stable and planted (I speak for the CFTP). At no point did the car feel like it was squirming under breaking or not doing anything except what I was asking it to do. It was like a video game. Point and shoot!
4: This car LIKES to be wrestled. It is not a car to be treated gently. It loves to ride curbs and be rotated hard through tight corners. It relishes in WOT & hard braking!!
5: The DCT is so well tuned you never have to drive in manual mode. I mean, you could if you wanted to, but you’ll always be faster in auto (unless you’re B Johnson). It’s ALWAYS in the correct gear and lets you focus on braking points and racing lines!! It’s certainly no less enjoyable than a stick. The intense speed compensates for that missing left pedal.
6: The sound of the DCT rev matching and downshifting as you brake hard into a tight corner is a truly glorious noise! Basically the sound is true aural pleasure all of the time!! It literally makes you giggle internally while driving!!

After 4 x 30minute sessions, I had done about 130 track miles!! That’s how enjoyable this car is on the track!! The tires (sport Cup 2) were worn pretty evenly at the end of the day with plenty more life.

I then filled up with gas and drove the 100 miles home, stopping for groceries on the way... because you can in a GT500!

BTW, she’s my daily.

Most excellent insight wow is all I can say and it sounds like with the right camber in it the tires will last a least a couple track days (thats about all we should ask for anyways). Did you set the camber for the track yourself and if you did was it very hard to do? seems like it's pretty straight forward but having someone that did it and tell us is always better then just reading......

I like to disassemble things.
He stated that Upland set his alignment.

I do my own. All you need is a caster/camber gauge for those respective settings and then some string to do the toe.Takes some time to get it done by yourself but you have the ability to get it dead nuts where you want it and know it was done right.

I heard a GT500 was on track and in 2 sessions wore through the outside of the front tires. He did not have caster/camber plates. If you only do one thing before your track event get caster/camber plates.

It is now being stated that the handling package gets the caster/camber plates. However it will be later in the year maybe this summer went owners possibly get them.

Unfortunately I’m going to Barber in April and more than likely will not get the caster/camber plates in time.
Well my worries are over ups just showed up with:
