This guy looks slightly confused, but I'm glad it worked out well for you OP!

Hahaha I don't think he wanted in the pic. :) He was the helper. The big bossman did the work.

$40 to lose up to 5HP. You are definitively doing it wrong...

I'll take the 1.1% potential (not confirmed) HP loss to save $360 and enjoy my ride even more until I've saved up for the bigger and complete setup that hasn't been released yet.

Again, this isn't a "omg guise, l00k at my supar awesome new vroom setup!" This is a "hey, if you want a cheap easy mod to make your car sound a bit better while you wait on the aftermarket to catch up, you might be interested in this." I'm just sharing. I'm not asking for opinions or critiques. I've done fine for years with way less than 435hp so I think life will move right along if I take a bit of a hit. This isn't a high end track car. This is my daily driver. My reason to smile every time I see it. And now I smile when I hear it. If that's not good enough for you then this isn't the thread for you. I'm just presenting an Average Joe solution, for those of us who are impatiently awaiting info about the aftermarket options before investing serious coin in it.

This is why we mod, and all mod differently. Great work. I love these low-dollar mods the best!

I agree ricky. I for one could care less about horse power gain from an exhaust. I care strictly for the sound.

Honestly, I doubt he's loosing HP, that resonator has to be more restrictive than the straight pipes. No doubt he is not gaining as much as a x/h pipe, but loosing HP sorry I just can't see it.

I'm curious about the black bracket looking thing that is bolted to the floorpan with w bolts there on the passenger side in that pic. I've seen these in other undercarriage shots but wonder exactly what they are and what they do. I know there is one on the driver side as well.

Anyone have any ideas what those are?

Just the thread I was looking for. I did this on my NA 6.3 E63 AMG, It was the best $80 I ever spent! (Mercedes Tax, I knew they charged $40 for this job but charged me more...) I dont think I lost any power and with the pedal down, it was the most amazing sound I had heard to date. Great for daily, and awesome when hooning around.

Thanks!

Take with a grain of salt. Recorded on an iPhone 6 and then compressed by Tapatalk for upload.

There are deeper tones totally missing here. But this gives you a basic idea. Cheers!

Does sound a little raspy in the vid. Im sure it would sound better with proper mic and video compression.

It is a tiny bit raspy, but really only noticeable during rev.

Driving it is nice, and a head turner for sure!
