Thanks for the responses everyone!

I will be removing them once I have the to get the car up on jack stands!

@NightmareMoon I decided to make my own air vanes since the non pp cars don't have them. I made them out of 1.2mm stainless steel and powder coated them. I used orange locktite, 60lb permanent adhesive tape, and the u bolts. After 500 miles of some seriously hard driving they are still rock solid. I do notice a difference in the feel (takes longer for the brakes to warm up) but I definitely think removing the dust shield would make a big difference!

Will they be catching any air without the PP undertray feeding them ?

Actually there is already quite a bit of ducting on the non PP cars. There is a hole that comes from the front of the car from the bottom grille that goes directly to the brakes. I'll try to get a picture of it. Obviously it would be better with the PP under tray but mine are large enough that they pick up air from the bottom anyways.

I know they are working because it really does take several medium stops to get them warm for normal braking :like:

I added brake ducting along with the PP undertray scoops.
Vorshlag's testing suggested it didn't help much but I already had the hoses there from when I had full tubing to the back of the rotor

That's the hole that the air comes through on mine. I have thought about developing some fins to go above the under tray and direct the air from the front of the car. Fins seem to be more efficient at moving air than hoses are.
