I love my 2018 GT, but I am not thrilled about the huge engine cover. Does anyone have pictures with it removed? I'm wondering if it would be worth doing. Thanks.

I didn't take a photo when I had mine off to install the "catch can" and "sound delete tube", but to me it looked unfinished and no frills plain.

I would recommend that you go ahead and take it off for a in your face look. It's not a difficult task to undertake. Remove 4 nuts and pull, and your done.

Just do it and see how you like it. It's 1 clip, 2 pop covers, and 6 nuts. 5 minutes tops, including getting the tools and opening your preferred beverage.

I took mine off the first week. As mentioned super easy to do. It does look plain jane with it off, but to me still better than with it on. After you take off the cover you can twist the oil filler neck off and the oil cap works without it. That helps cleaning it up a bit. I have a catch can, sound tube delete, and the oil filler neck removed. Looks better to me than with the cover on.

Now the trick is finding some brackets to make the 2017 Mustang engine cover fit on the 18 manifold. I'd love to do that to mine since I have painted ones.

Thanks guys! The video really helps and I think I like it better without. Now to decide.

Why don't you try and find one off of a 2011 Mustang GT,they looked sharp, see if you can't make that fit.

That's one way of dressing it up! Back in the OP question though, do you have a pre whippled shot? I'm waiting on my 19 GT and was planning on removing the cover as well.
I didn't bother taking one pre-whipple.

I've been wondering why Ford Engineering decided to put the cover on. It has to be an expensive proposition.

So did they change it because of lower hood and direct injection? It is so ugly.

Wait, what??!? I can't have the 2018 intake manifold and use my beautiful painted JLT cover? That might be a deal breaker for me...

I believe it's been mentioned that it was to deaden the sound of the DI.

Yes this cover is a sound deflector for the DI noise. It is a pain but covers up all of the plumbing below with dual injection.
