Actually the wiring ran through the tube itself. The fix for the weather stripping was to remove it and insert a thin piece of cardboard (file folder thickness) shaped in a 'V'. Pop the weather stripping back in and viola. Did mine back in 2018 and it's been fine since...I think I actually saw...
Mine shows signs of dye transfer in certain areas on the lower left side where back meets the bottom after approx 14,000 miles. I clean regular with Griot's 3in1 leather.
Installed a set of PowerStop Z26 carbon ceramic brake pads front and back. Waiting for weather and opportunity to get out and break them in. Hopefully everyones comments on how brake dust is reduced are true.
I'll let Ford make the decision under warranty ..if they want to pay to replace the whole thing that's there call..if out of warranty then I'd definitely pursue other options that wouldn't affect my wallet.
I used gorilla glue on strips of velcro I had laying around. Did a tug test 24hrs later and its pretty darn strong feeling. The wires are under the insulation so leds won't fall very far if it does separate,but at this juncture I don't think it will.
