Hi. I was wanting to know from people who have painted or Vinyl wrapped their Roof. I will put a wrap on it to see if I like it and if I do I will have the roof painted in the spring.
Thank you for your help

I'd like to also ask:

For those with the factory black (or aftermarket applied black) roof paint OR vinyl - does the vehicle interior get any hotter than if the vehicle roof were same as body color?

Any fact/myth to that?

That's a great question and hopefully someone in a HIGH HEAT geographical area responds. Since black absorbs heat from the sun I would imagine it would. Hopefully someone replies back to you.

Xpel has a matt PPF option. You could accomplish two goals with that, a matt finish and protection from scratches.

It will definitely make the car hotter. There's no arguing with the heat-energy and color.

I can't say for sure the roof gets really hot on the outside but I don't find the interior temps to be an issue.

I have a tuxedo black fusion (no tint yet), a deep impact blue flex (factory rear tint), and a kona blue gt (ceramic tinted windows). the black car gets noticeably hotter down here in the deep south inside and outside to the touch. so while I dont have a black wrapped roof and I can't fathom how that would be a myth. a simple laser temp gun will reveal the difference easily.

I have the black accent package and live in the desert where itā€™s 120 at times. My mustang is no hotter with a black roof than any of my other cars without a black roof. I also have the fancy-scmancy window tint that blocks heat, but I have it on all my cars so again, the black roof makes no difference. Plus I love the way it looks.

You can also do gloss black PPF. Rock chip protection, scratch resistant, non-permanent.
If heat is a concern, gloss will reflect some of it away, whereas matt will typically absorb it and be a few degrees hotter:

Factory roofs are gloss - itā€™s shadow black to be completely accurate :like:

I have gloss black paint from the factory. Donā€™t have many good pics of itā€¦ I donā€™t usually focus on the roof šŸ˜‚
