What's a good & safe water spot remover to use on very bad hard water streaks and lines?
I have these really bad hard water streaks on my hood that are like 3 feet long from the water drying across my hood.

Car pro water spot remover or gyeon water spot remover. Or you may have to polish them out depending on how long they been on the paint.

Adams polishes have an acid based water spot remover, have a watch of the video on their website, it’s quite impressive. I think it’s built for really bad water spots

Can a hard water streak that dried up do this? pic below. I noticed it after a recent wash and there's 2 long "scratch-like" lines that look etched on to the paint. It starts from the hood vent all the way up to the top of the hood (looks like a long stream). Water in the hood vent probably worked its way up while I was on the highway and I didn't dry it off in time. I'm pretty sure it's not a scratch because that's an extremely difficult scratch to make and it was not there when I first dried the car. The outline of the scratches are basically parallel and where the water streaked it's way across the hood. This thing is like 3 feet long and it won't come off with water or light rubbing alcohol.

Just want to be sure that hard water streaks can cause this and that I shouldn't treat it like a scratch.

Do you wash in the sun? Because of my setup, I have no choice sometimes, and I too have had what I would describe as "streaks" which sometimes are only visible in certain light. What has caused me trouble is leaving soapy water over half the car whilst washing the other half, if that dries in the sun then you do get the residue "stained" into the paint. Hard to work around it sometimes.

I would guess you're vent was holding some soapy water which dribbled out then dried in the sun. In which case, I'd say do treat it as a light scratch and start with a light polish of the hood. That should take care of it.

Yea same boat as you, can't help being in the sun a bit since my drive way is not covered but I have to wash it there since it's by the hose. Ordered a bottle of car pro spotless and will give that a shot, people have had good feedback with it removing hard water spots and streaks.

A claybar can also usually remove hard water spots.

Had some medium bad ones on my grand Cherokee. They can range in seriousness. There’s good videos on you tube that give progressively more aggressive recommendations to remove them. I Started with vinegar / water mix that didnt do anything. then used chemical guys heavy duty water spot remover which did the trick.

I have some CarPro Spotless 2.0 on its way so I'm hoping that will do it.
