Recommend a setup for fun street driving

I got some bad news from the doctor, I had a seizure out of the blue a couple weeks ago and Ga law says no driving for 6 months. My job is working with me and letting me take a different roll so I can keep working and not sit at home on short term.

with that said, I'm thinking about making a few changes over the next 6 months since my car will just be sitting here. What I'd like to achieve is a fun street driven car that's a fun all around car. I go on mountain runs a few times a year, I like curvy back roads, and do go to Road Atlanta once or twice a year.

There are a few things requirements, I don't want to lower the car much since my second house is down a dirt road and the angle in the driveway is very close to rubbing as is. I'm willing to give up some of the cushy ride I have now, a firm ride is good with me. Wheels and tires will be a consideration, but that will likely be the last to happen and probably go to something like a Conti ExtremeContact DWS06 due to my car being a daily first and foremost.

As for the car, it's a 2022 GT 401a A10 with 3.15 gears, Non PP. The only mods so far are catback exhaust and a GT500 Swing. I do currently have the optional 20" wheels.

My current plans are subframe lockouts, Steeda minimum drop springs, bilstein shocks/struts, and steeda sway bars. What recommendations do you all recommend?

RLCA bushing swap to sphericals. On the toe link too. As much as I am critical of Steeda, their sphericals seem pretty robust.

I had a 401A Auto non PP. It was great. I see you mentioned tires and wheels last. That should really be first.

Put these on instead of those 20 OEMs and it will hug the mountain roads a lot better. It made my car much more nimble. They are the Mach 1 Premiums. $1200 on the used market. Great bang for the buck. The tires you mentioned are great too. I run them on a GT500 all year.

I've apparently been having focal seizures since a bad car accident in 2011 and didn't know what they were and neither did my doctors, very odd presentation, I just got cold sweats and would lose focus for a few seconds. I had a full on seizure a couple days after hitting my head on something standing up. Combine that with stress/lack of sleep from my oldest son sleep walking out the front door and the neurologist said it was just a perfect storm alongside a focal seizure to allow it to spread across my whole brain instead of being localized to one spot as it's been doing.

I drive on lots of mountain roads , gravel and beat up roads, trashed city road, and use concrete parking access ramps to pavement that I have to take at an angle all the time, plus a lot of highway at speed.

I would say stay away from any drop and anything spherical or with out rubber bushing. You will never push the car hard enough on AS tires to experience a benefit but will pay a heavy comfort and use ability with lowering and "upgrades". I installed the Ford Performance control arms where one has no rubber bushing and I can feel it. I also did the Steeda adjustable end links because they look cool and can feel it - will put OEs back in the spring.

High frequency bumps that prevail on gravel and old paved roads demand suppleness (different than softness) that's often regarded as poor handling when at the limit on a track or excellent pavement. It's a quality in your usage or anywhere when ride comfort or high speed on bad roads stability is desired.

Do install Ford Performance Track damper kit with stock springs ( best value and known performance) combined with your DWS or other UHP AS since they won't get shredded by gravel roads.

Avoid Bilstein B6 they cannot handle high frequency low speed bumps with comfort if have a UHP tire or EV approved tire ( these ruin ride), or cheap tire like Pzero AS Plus 3.

Consider 19 X 9.5 or 10 squared wheels with 255/265-40/45- 19" as well. Those 20s looks great but degrade ride and performance a lot.

I was reading some stuff about the bilstein dampers and am leaning towards the ford performance dampers. The wheels I’m thinking about only come in 20’s. I like the looks of American Racing AR924 and was looking at 20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear 255/35 front and 275/35 rear.

It's a good path. Maybe you can put 40s on the 20" wheels. I do love 20's look but can't handle the comfort loss or the huge weight penalty of wheel and tire that also decreases ride quailt.

Cost of 27lb rotary forged or forged wheel plus decent tire adds up as well.

I love me some C7 (I’m looking at a C7 GS actually) but for fun curvy roads and mountain runs, I’d probably go with an R before a C7. Plus with an R, you don’t need to go out and replace your current wardrobe with New Balance and jorts.
