I was on the fence about Recaro vs standard premium but the choice was made for me yesterday. I am 6 foot 4, 275ish with broad shoulders. I love the seats in my BRZ, they really hold you in nicely for factory seats, so after sitting in the standard premium seats I didnt think I could live with them. Not that there is anything wrong with them in the least, they are so comfortable, heated and cooled is so nice. Really its almost insane to spend 1600 bucks to give up on all of that and power seats, but I was willing to do it. But took the girlfriend car shopping yesterday and finally found a dealer that had the premium Recaro's and was overjoyed. I loved them, they didnt fit me perfectly on the back due to having a wide back, but I loved them. Girlfriend sat down, stood right back up with the words "OH HELL NO" flying out of her mouth immediately. As a bigger guy I highly recommend trying them out first. For me they were easily livable, but gotta keep the women folk happy. On the bright side she saved me $1600 bucks.
...And a few days later they broke up

those of you with recaros how have they broken in? I test drove a gt pp today with recaros and i'm only 5'8 with broad shoulders and they were squeezing my sides quite a bit that's for sure. not sure if i'm willing to have that squeezing as a DD.

Does the grip lessen on the sides of your body after they break in a bit?

I just can't make up my mind if it's worth losing the heated and cooled seats for the tight almost death grip around the lower part of my ribs haha
Sales guy I'm working with has a new base GT with the cloth recaros and he said they broke in to his body after about 250-300 miles. I sat in his car (then at 700 miles) and loved them. I'm a bigger guy, 6'1, 235 lbs, broad shoulders.

In the minority here, but I really love the leather premium non-recaro seats. Very comfortable but still feels like a sports car... just not a track car. I tested the recaros and they felt very supportive and firm... just not what I was looking for. I'm sure if I raced I'd be singing a different tune.

Like my heated, cooled, leather standard seats. Very comfortable and plenty of support.

The Recaro seat is perfect for my body type. I'm 160 lbs, 5'11". It's like the seat is made for me.
Good to hear, im 5ft 10, 170 .

I'm only 5'10 and 180lbs...and these factory seats are tight. Maybe too tight.

That's not in the minority - it seems most people think the new leather seats are such an improvement that the Recaros are only justified in fringe cases. I'll have to sit in both of them, but the Recaros would have to be ungodly comfortable to PAY $1600+ to LOSE features.

As I have so eloquently voiced in other threads about the seats and/or interior, I have no desire for leather, heated/cooled seats, or power/memory functions. I have all that crap now and I never use any of it. I am the only person that will be driving this car so once I adjust the seat to my driving position that's where it is going to stay. The GF only knows how to drive one stick and it's not in the car . The other "features" just add unnecessary weight.

I will be going with Recaros and at 5'11 195lbs they fit me like a glove. In the ~1.5 hours of total seat time I have had on test drives I experienced no discomfort. If the GF thinks they are uncomfortable she can walk

Granted, I am buying this car for performance not luxury so my reasoning may vary slightly from the norm. I am only adding the Recaros and the PP and she'll do me just fine. :headbang:

The RECARO seat is very supportive, however just like in the FOCUS ST, larger occupants may feel uncomfortable with the pinched feel if the seat. I for one really like my RECAROS. Feels like my car is hugging me the entire time I'm driving. (5'10"/190lbs)

The Recaros don't have lumbar adjustment so they're useless to me. My back needs it.

My cousin has a '14 GT PP with cloth Recaros. They're dope.
They make the car feel way sportier, because they grip your body and hold you in place when maneuvering. You don't slide around like the flatter (leather) standard seats. His car feels way more stiffly sprung than my '14 GT Brembo car. I think they are the same, minus the coolers and Torsen diff.

I wish I had been able to get them in my '14. It bought after production ended.
I keep looking for someone who wants to trade 400A black leather seats for leather Recaros.

Next car, I'll be sure to order one with Recaros. They're definitely awesome.

I am a ways off from ordering my Mustang but have been thinking about what I want. Aside from the seats I had it all figured out. I rented a 2015 Premium so I know how the regular seats feel (which is great) but still wanted to sit in Recaro's. Been keeping an eye out for a local dealership to get one in with the Recaro's so I could go sit in them and I finally found one. I am 6' even 255 lbs and they felt tight. I wanted them to be comfortable but they just weren't to me. I do plan to track the car just as I did my last one. I will be getting the regular seats in premium trim. $1600 will go a long way to buying me seats for the track that fit me. They aren't that hard to change out and I'll have the best of both worlds. The most comfortable seats for the street and fixed back race seats that fit me for the track. :headbang:
