An anti inflammatory diet/lifestyle can likely cure the love/or hate relationship of Recaro's.

The pain comes from our bodies... not the seats.
Old guys that drove trucks for a living ~70 years ago, didn't complain about back pain ea day after work.

& not because the seats sucked, but because they didn't inflame their bodies w/choices the bodycouldno longer endure.

I'm not being sarcastic or snarky. Speaking from real world experience.

Take a look at what you are putting into your body. Most people don't want to hear this, as I didn't either, for longer than I care to admit.

I'll make it easy. Don't eat anything that has more than 1 ingredient for 60/90 days.

No Fructose, no added sugars.

You will either lose a couple waist sizes & feel more comfortable in the seat, or you will reduce the inflammatory causes in your back. Hopefully both.

I've had 2 back surgery's and have 5 titanium rids with 6 screws & 3 fused vertebrae in my lower back.

They told me I would need 2 more fused due to the pain, before I changed everything dietary. My back feels better than it did 30yrs ago as long as I don't due ridiculous things with it.

I hope it takes anyone who has back problems less time to figure this all out that it took me.

Enlist a good naturopathic doctor to help you. A regular MD will be clueless in this type of journey.

Or, buy different seats.

Due to the fact that I did track my car about 5 to 6 times per year and didn't want a race seat because I also drive it on some long freeway drives. I meant my needs half way. I switched out my heated and cooled prem seats for a set of Recaro. Im 66 years old and 185 lbs with a 5'10 frame . So to keep comfortable I use a small throw pillow and place it right where the seat bottom meets the seat back. I am good for about an hour before I catch myself moving my body around to find a comfortable spot.

I found some lumbar support on Amazon that work well with the recaros.

I cancelled my custom order in 2022 to buy a car that was on a lot an hour away (everything was identical, premium, active exhaust, magnaride, PP) but the one I bought had recaros. Other than the fact this one is black and I had ordered mischievous purple, the recaros are my biggest regret for this car.

If I did any track days, they'd likely make more sense, but the nearest track to here is many hours away.

Mustang recaros are just a brand licensing deal they are not real Recaros, zero supplied by Recaros except brand no wonders they went bankrupt twice in last ten years or so.

Custom foams and covers are the only viable option to retain airbags other than premium seats. Who needs air bags anyways we did without them for 100+years and still have A Pillar bags which are the ones protecting your head and preventing broken neck, hopefully.

Isn't it rather the case that Recaro also engineers and supplies regular seats, as well as RECARO brandet seats, which are then stitched accordingly? 🤔

It can't be ruled out that Ford said, make us a RECARO seat with as many parts of our regular seat as possible, that's how these things work in this industry...

I've dealt with some people who have needed them and some who have not been helped by the airbags (first responder). The only people who are worse off are those who leave the seatbelt off.

When I had the 2018 GT, I drove 5 hours to meet up with a guy who owned a Bullitt to trade my base leather seats plus cash for his Recaros because he thought they were uncomfortable. Then I swapped them with the Recaros from a guy with a Need for Green GT because of the green stitching and felt like a genius but it turned out I hated them, they dug into my ribs. Ended up going down a research project rabbit hole trying to make them more comfortable but no luck. I made a tool to cut out some of the foam to give it more room to expand but the side bolsters were the real problem, they are metal plates welded to the seat frame and there's just no way to expand them without possible risking cracking the welds that hold them in place... made it very easy to decide to order the Mach with the base seats.

Thank You for the terrific Links to the Official RECARO Website…it clears up the RECARO controversy re: the RECARO’S that are optional on specific Mustangs AND WHO manufactures… them…they come from RECARO…Period‼

I realize this question may seem lame BUT I am desperate so here goes. I ordered a 2018 GT premium with the PP1 years back and outfitted it exactly as I wanted it. I love everything about this car and want to keep it (has less than 10k miles on the odo) BUT I am finding the Recaros uncomfortable on my back and sciatic nerves nowadays. Has anyone found a way to live more comfortably with these seats? Has anyone ever found some type of back insert that work?

As I said, this is a lame question but any suggestions for would be appreciate.

Thanks
I will trade you my base cloth seats :)

I find the regular S550 leather seats I have very uncomfortable. It needs more lumbar support for me but hard to find a perfect fit with Amazon car back cushions. Also not having a power setting for the seat back.

They complained constantly. We just didn't have the internet to read about it.

Thumbs up for the 1 ingredient thing. 👍

I absolutely adore my seats. I specifically picked this one because I wanted the Recaro package. They never get bad. No matter how long the drive, my back and legs are happy.

I do think it can be hit or miss depending on height, weight, body proportions. When I weighed 240, I don’t think they would have been as comfy. Now I’m 185 at 6 feet tall with regular proportions, which is likely dead center of the intended average body they form the seat for.

I’m a sucker for sports seats in general. If I wanted big comfy captains chairs, I would get an Escalade. I just love the feeling of a good Recaro or Sparco seat. Or even the seats they put in Audi VW products.

To this day, VW R32 and Golf R seats are at the top of my list personal list for most comfy. The old R32 has Koneg seats that I would kill to be able to buy new somewhere. Just absolute perfection.
I'll second that, almost any VW sedan (not the CUVs) product-line (even their non buckets from 1999 to today). Also the Honda S2000 seats...

Nothing quite compares with Recaros for spirited outdoor driving through the hills and country, or aggressive racing at the track. Whenever I ride in a car that comes with them, I feel snug and anchored in the seat, and if I'm driving, the Recaros are a confidence booster to take each turn a little harder. I think they work well for their intended purpose and audience. My personal opinion is that they are not good for long trips, but they're not made for that either, so.

That said, I would never trade my current soft and comfy, heated and cooled, lumbar-supporting premium leathers for the Recaros. This loaded GT is my daily driver on top of being my play car, which means my comfort (and my family's) has to trump performance and having my ass glued to the seat. I may slip and slide in my driver's seat every turn I make at the track, but I can also drive several hundred miles at once and the ride is so smooth with the MagneRide and soft leather seats that even my kids pass out on long trips.
