There is a 19 GT350 with 950 miles on it close by that is listed with a rebuilt title. Its been in a wreck, but I do not know how bad yet. He wants 45k for it, its all fixed and ready to drive away. Is it worth even looking at it, its been listed for over a month now and is still there, I figured maybe he would go down on the price, but I'm leery about long term resale value. I doubt I would ever sell that car, I would keep my 18 GTPP for the wife to drive and let this one be my fun weekend car. I'm torn because I'd prolly be able to save money getting this one, but lack of warranty and buying someone else's problem as me thinking otherwise. I have a message to him seeing what all was damaged.

I don't know about Ohio but in Texas you can only get liability insurance on a salvage title. So if you got in a wreck that was your fault you would have no damage coverage for the car. That would be a $40K plus hit for you if the car was totaled.

Good point, never thought of that one. Guess I'll have to check on that.

I would want to see the car pics before the repair to understand the damage. Would make a good track car for the right price. The resale value would be affected with the salvage title.

45k sou ds a bit high depending on damage. I recently missed out on a rebuilt title ‘19 GT350 that sold for 35k. I seen pics of the damage before fixing, during fixing and after it was all back togeher and was more than comfortable with it.
45k just seems high to me considering damage was substantial enough to cause a rebuilt title. If you can get good pics of the damage after the accident before being rebuilt that would be good. Find out if there was frame damage. FWIW the one I was looking at had zero frame damage and was all cosmetic.

agreed with above, sounds high.

other than that I personally would not care, except for financing and insurance.

if those two aren’t affected, then go for it.

and never say “I won’t ever sell it” because life happens.

I sent him a message so we will see. The only pics I've seen are of it repaired. Hes like 2 mile away from my house so its not a big deal to stop by.

I only paid slightly more than that for my 17 that was perfect with 2K miles on it. There would be no way I would pay 45K for a rebuilt title car regardless of year.

Well yeah, I hadn't planned on paying the 45 if I go through with it. Plenty of great cars for slightly more than that. No idea if he would do 35k to 37k, that's more inline with what I would pay. But the more I think about it and research it, the less I like it, lol Too many things to go wrong, plus the insurance and everything else. That and I never had good luck with things. Someone would buy this thing drive it like crazy and it would be fine, me I'd put a 100 miles on it and the engine would come apart. I'll probably hold out for a clean titled one.

I sell insurance, full coverage on a rebuilt title car is a no go. Most places don't even want to do liability.

I'd only buy a rebuilt car for track use personally. Selling it will always be a huge pain

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
Too much downside risk. Banks don’t like financing wrecked cars, so pay cash. Oops, more downside...

LOL, i texted the wife about it as she's out of town for a few days. Her response was "I'll write a check for the new Orange 2020 on the lot that we looked at the other day before I'd let you buy that one" I'm gonna save that text for sure, lol

I wasn't planning on tracking it and honestly I don't want the hassle of it.

Thanks for all the responses.

That's my kind of wife. Does she have a sister?
