Rear valence smoked reflectors

They’re not cheap, but I didn’t want a vinyl tint. Now if someone comes out with a smoked reverse light that’s not a combo brake light, my mission will be complete. hah

Form Lighting, partners of Diode Dynamics which are the rear side markers and my front turn signals/fog setup. Got them when Steeda was pimping them out with a 10% promo. Took a chance on them after being severely disappointed with the ones from Winjet, these are way better.

The ones I recieved from ebay look exactly like yours (very nice) but appear to offer little to no reflective action from an external light source.

I had been wondering this too, then I spotted this :

Installed some smoked rear reflectors ... which actually don't reflect any light, lol. But they look better than the bright red reflectors. The installation isn't really hard if you have a thin walled 10 mm socket and pull down on the rear valance to get better access to the retaining nut. Did it without even jacking up the rear of the car.

Maybe there are other options are out there that do ?

I don't really care if they reflect light or not. There might be some smoked ones that do reflect light, but I doubt it really. All these reflectors I've seen for sale (basically all from China) seem to just be hollow housings that they use for the reflectors that you can buy with the LED strip in them to light up all the time.

If someone wants the reflectors to actually reflect light, then just putting some smoked film on the OEM reflectors might retain the light reflecting properties.

You can get the same ones with all the same markings on the back from eBay for about $23. I think all of them are made in China.

This is my ghetto reflective test with a flashlight and shaky camera work, juggling the big ass phone in the semi-dark. Lol Looks better than my side markers with a light to them, but don’t think they would qualify as legit reflectors.

I wouldn’t doubt it as the package was shipped from China (dun dun dun), but EBay has always been a crap shoot for me. I might have tried EBay if I had known, tho. I had searched all the forums for a source but came up with nada until you replied, thus my post for other lost souls like me. When I got my order from S550 Euro, one ”reflector” had a blemish so S550 Euro sent out a replacement set and didn’t ask for the broken set back, so they probably made a 300% profit. Bahaha

I’m not too concerned with the reflective properties either. I figure anything fast enough to hit my car would be another car. If that car has headlights, all that chrome trim, rear view mirror, and future aluminum diff cover should do the trick in bouncing light back. Lmao

Thanks for this! Yours have the same optical properties mine have. I too am not concerned about it I was just curious if there was a better one out there. I think mine came from the same factory as yours. I got them on ebay (link) for $27 and one arrived with a broken corner. No pieces in the box, so they were packed like that at the factory. Seller sent me a replacement right away.

Can they be installed more than once? Are they single use because of that speed nut? I may change to the GT500 bumper cover/valence in the future.

Hah, definitely from the same factory as mine came like that as well with no evidence of it being damaged during the shipping process. I would assume you can reuse them if you made sure to thread them in carefully with the self threading nut. At least I was able to do with the OEM one after reinstalling since I didn’t notice the broken corner until after the fact in my excitement of receiving them.

I did the same basic test when I got my smoked reflectors, except I did it before installing them by just putting one at the other side of the room in the dark and shinning a strong LED flashlight on it. No reflections detected ... it just looks whiter when strong light hits it. Like mentioned before, not a big concern for me. I believe even the reflectors like this that have the built-in LED light strip do no reflect any external light.
