I called my Ford dealer to see what their prices were for the rear spring isolators. To my surprise, they said that not only are some not available, but it looked like they have been discontinued! Has anyone else ran into issues finding them? Since I have MagneRide, I have different isolators on the left than standard mustangs. Here are the part numbers I called about:

Upper Left - FR3Z-5586-C (2 available)
Upper Right - FR3Z-5586-B (unavailable)
Lower Left - E1GZ-8321-A (1 available)
Lower Right - FR3Z-8321-A (39 available)

A few online stores have some of the lowers in stock, and there are a couple of the lower lefts on eBay. But the uppers are even harder to find, especially the upper left! (my dealer wants full MSRP for them)

Has anyone else heard about the isolators being discontinued? Or it is just a horrible supply problem right now? I can't see how they could be discontinued, especially since they are in use on so many recent vehicles and are a common wear part. Mine were worn through after less than 25k, so I'm hoping the next set will last at least another 25k.

Steeda has them.
Steeda only has less than 5 of the lower right. (the same one the dealer said there are 39 of available) But Steeda doesn't carry any uppers and their lower left says it ships in 2-3 weeks, which means it isn't in stock.

At least according to their website, I haven't called them.

It is odd the top right is hard to find. I wouldn't buy any off ebay. For sure going to already be wore out.

The ones I was looking at on eBay were not used but brand new parts. Yeah, I would never buy these used, especially with how worn mine were after just 25k!

I placed an order with Ford Parts Giant for all 4 parts to see what would happened. The upper right is on backorder without any ETA so they canceled it. I wonder if the aftermarket will step in and pick up the slack?

If you wanted to, you can get the poly ones that slip onto the coils in a crunch. Mine lasted less than 8K miles. I had to wait for replacements a bit as well.

Do you have a link to the poly ones?

Thanks! I’ll give them a try and hopefully they’ll help the Ford isolators last longer. And hopefully Ford gets its act together and starts manufacturing them again!
FYI, Steeda has the lowers, and the singular upper (This thread reminded me that the isolators might be the cause of my squeak so I ordered some). I would do something like NGOT8R did and wrap the end of the spring, or even grind it a tiny bit to make a less aggressive edge on the spring.

The last isolator arrived at the dealership yesterday (FR3Z-5586-C), so I can FINALLY get the rear end put back together. Of all the parts I was installing, I never thought it would be the rubber isolators that would hold everything up!

I ground smooth the edges of the new springs (re-painted them), and I'm going to attempt to install the new springs with the poly sleeves from above, but the poly sleeves seems to add a lot of thickness. Hopefully this combination lasts more than the 25k miles my factory ones lasted for.

FYI - I also contact Steeda about the uppers, but no luck. For anyone needing a new set of isolators for MagneRide equipped vehicles, unfortunately you'll be out of luck for a very long time!

Quick update - the universal isolators didn't work out so well. After a couple weeks driving they worked their way off the tip and slid further back onto the springs. Because only the tip wears through the isolators, sliding up the spring makes them useless. I went ahead and removed them yesterday since I needed to install a 1/4" spring spacer. Hopefully the grinding I did on the tips of the new springs will help the new isolators last more than just 5 years!

On another note, while I love the stiffer Ford Performance rear sway bar and the BMR IRS subframe brace, needing to remove extra stuff to make adjustments to the springs is a pain! 😵

Any pics of the grinding you did on the tips of the springs? What coating are you going to tough them up with?
