Rear spring hat/cushion

I have a clunking from passenger rear when in uneven parking lots. I’m lowered on FP springs. Sounds like the little rubber isolator on the top of the spring is mushed and now the spring is jiggling.

Can you get to that spring hat without dropping the entire rear subframe? I’m hoping my guy can just throw it on the lift, compress the spring and slip a new one up in there. But I have a feeling its not that easy and I’m gonna end up with 6 hours of labor just to swap out a 5 inch piece of rubber.

It's not that easy. Sorry.

That said, I'd check every other connection point before I lowered the subframe. Endlinks love to make noise too. And even if you have to lower the subframe, it's really simple, if you have the right tools.

Retorque everything. You most likely have one that’s not fully torqued.

Ugh. Always such a pain in the ass tracking down suspension clunks. I haven’t been able to reproduce what movement is causing it. Even when I hit a bump and it happens, if I go backwards and try to make it happen again, it won’t.

I’m glad it’s not some catastrophic problem, but it’s still damn annoying. Endlinks are a good place to check. I have been meaning to order the FP sway bars. Maybe I will get some new endlinks to go with them.

This. My issue was a sway bar mount. Once tight, thre clunking went away. Also on FP springs.
