Hi All,

I am trying to remove the rear lower control arm. Found a great how to with pics, have the arm totally released from the knuckle, subframe etc. Just cannot get it out as it’s hung up on part of a subframe on top, and on bottom don’t see how to get the magneride through. The write up is for an s550 but obviously not a gt350, as for example the shock mounts are on top so for that example the arm just drops straight down. Ours it mounts on the bottom.

Also any chance anyone can send a shot of the owners manual for the control arm removal?

Thanks!

Please post pics of how far you’ve gotten, so we can see how to help.

Here are some pics that will hopefully give you a better idea on disassembly. Note: After removing my rear shocks and axle nut, I pulled down on the spindle and pushed in on the axle to remove it from the wheel bearing and let the spindle rest on top of a 5 gal. bucket. I also made sure to unbolt the magneride linkage from the control arm. This should allow you to remove the control arm.

So you removed the lca mount bolts, shock/strut bolts and it still won't come out?

Mine came out without issue. Those are just the steps that I took to remove them.
I TOOK my LT-RT LCAs out last winter without issue also.

Wanted to chime in, as I'm doing this right now.

I was unable to get the rear lower control arm bushing bolt out... even with an impact swivel and a Milwaukee 1400 ft lb impact gun...

I ended up fully removing my shock, then disconnecting the upper control arm to knuckle... this allowed me to use a 15/16th box wrench to break the bolt free (after double wrenching).

Hate to hear that. I just had my LCA lowered for new spring install. I use a 1/2" 36" ratchet bar to remove those bolts. And I have found, when removing high torque bolts/ nuts, I cannot use swivel universals, multible extensions for the impact hit is absorbed to much to break them loose. Good luck.

its crazy, even with that bolt broken loose, putting the swivel on it with extensions is still losing too much torque to fully pull it out..... wishing I had a 24mm ratchet wrench now haha

Probably will just remove the half shaft to get better clearance

It’s a major PITA. And if DIYing on the floor, retorquing it to the 184ft/lb spec (I think) is insane! Especially if you’ve got rubber in it still and have to clock at ride height.

I know it was tough. I think I used a crow and extension. But just torque down as hard as you can and call it a day.
