You might want to consider an aftermarket torque converter such as a Circle D 3C?
The OP has a manual trans otherwise a good idea.
Ooops! That one slipped right by me...
Wish I could get mine down to one an hour.
If I'm the OP (original poster) I drive an auto 6r80.
Sorry. Revising goal from one an hour to one a minute.

I completely disagree with that one.

The 3L55 is a posi, but Torsen are labeled with an L too

My 18 PP 6 speed has a steel carrier. Not alloy.

The pictured aluminum case one in the OP sure looks good and I'd choose swapping a pumpkin over a r&p swap any day of the week! What's the price ??
$300 USD. Approx $400 CAD
Im from Canada so I have to get it across the border.
Sometimes I get charged duties for parts and sometimes not.

Is there a way to tell the year of the car by the tags on the Diff. I bought what is supposed to be a 18 PP 3.55 auto diff. It is aluminum. It does have the painted or coated pinion flange. My 17 has an unpainted pinion flange.

I have a September '20 build base GT automatic car. 3.15 aluminum carrier.

So basically you're saying you bought one that looks just like the one in the original post, an unpainted raw aluminum housing with a nicely painted pinion flange. It's an 18+ differential but not from a PP1 unless there was a serious production error. A 18+ auto PP1 will have a black painted steel housing and a black painted pinion flange and have stickers indicating 3.55 gears. You can also identify the Torsen carrier by looking into the hole where the axle stub would go in and it will look like you are looking through a washer and be able to see clear through out the opposite side of the differential.

Yep, exactly. It is a trac lock because I cannot see through it. It does have the 3.55 gear sticker.

So I'm assuming I got a base 18 auto third member? Wouldn't that be a 3.15?

or I got a 17 with an 18 flange?

Looks like I'm taking it apart. Hope I didn't get ripped off.

Base with the $395 3.55 option. I don't see anyone going to the trouble to swap 3.55 stickers onto a 3.15 differential. Why would you take it apart? If you want to verify the ratio you could count revolutions comparing pinion to axle splines. You would need to turn it multiple revolutions to accurately verify 3.55 vs 3.15 since it's only a difference of 12%.

Because it was supposed to be a 2000 mile PP1 3.55 18 diff. Seller said he installed a hellion turbo kit and went to a 3.15

I now want to make sure the gears and clutches are not worn out.

Good to know the 3.55 was an option in the trak lock auto.

Can you post up pics of what you received?

If it truly was from a 2018 PP GT or PP EB, it would have the iron case (painted black), the rear aluminum cover with diff temp sensor and the Torsen guts.

TIP:
- If the rear diff has Trac-loc guts, you won't be able to see through it with axles removed. There will be a "bar" in the hole which is for the spider gears.

- If the rear diff has Torsen guts, you'll be able to see through it with axles removed.

If that is what you expected and received an aluminum case - then I would say it’s incorrect...

Yes, you can install the large flange 17 Performance Pack rear differential in your 19 and but your 19 driveshaft, regardless of manual or automatic transmission, is sized for a small differential flange.

So I would need to swap the flange ?
