Invest in some suspension mods to eliminate the wheelhop which caused the problem to begin with.
Yes, you are right. That is the problem.... I need a loan lol

I have yet to see a way to prevent wheel hop on drag radials and a stick.
I wheel hopped the crap out of mine the last few times at the track. I ended up not using lauch control and launching at 2500 followed by a short shift to 2nd.

Maybe at the track...not sure as I only use bias ply at the track. On the street, however, I haven't had issues with wheelhop since adding a few components from BMR. I've since gradually thrown the entire BMR catalog at it, and wheelhop just isn't an issue on the street (and I believe that is where the OP's problem originated).

The shop drained both the transmission and the rear end, both fluids were clean. They suspect it is still the diff. What do I replace it with, like kind torsen or trac lok?

I'm still on a Torsen with a few hard launches at the strip and a lot of half mile passes. Still has no issues at all.

Is it just me or am I the only one who wants to find out 100.percent what is wrong with my car before I throw money at it.To the op no one on here can guess what s wrong with your car without looking at it.U have to take time to diagnose it,I would take the cover off and spin the diff and look for abnormal things, like cracked gears or teeth.Also.do what kcc told u and put the e brake on and let the clutch out slowly,if the wheels don't move and u hear noise probably trans.Have someone listen while the wheels are spinning to see if they can hear where the noise is coming from.U will.be pissed if u buy a rear and that's not it because of not diagnosing it right.

I'm willing to bet it is a n axle that is not broke all the way.

He said he physically turned the driveshaft and neither axle spun. If that is true, put a differential in it.

Doing the best I can to diagnose before buying anything, I had the rear end open and looking at all the teeth, nothing looks wrong (granted, I can’t see inside the torsen). The shop listened to my car while it was moving and said it is for sure coming from the back.

I will try the e brake thing and see what happens.

You are right though, I will be pissed if I buy a rear end and that’s not the problem... that’s why my car is still broken.

If it was an axle, wouldn’t the torsen allow my other wheel to still rotate? That’s the point of an lsd.

I know wheel hop can wreak havoc on parts but these were DSS 1400hp axles.

No when an axle breaks u lose power to both wheels, even on lsd rears.I thought u said the shop turned the driveshaft and the wheels spun too,so my mistake.

get that thing on a lift, set the ebrake tightly and let the clutch out in 2nd or 3rd gear with somebody down below watching to see whats happening.

On a serious note. When the trans is in gear it is normal to be able to spin a wheel on a torsen car while in the air. The opposite wheel should also turn however(in the opposite direction).

As someone else suggested, it would be an easy and free troubleshoot to swap in the stock shafts. If the noise is still there your guaranteed its the diff. Then go grab one from a junkyard and your back on the road.

Hope this helps!
