I am guessing this is just a better quality version of the tomtom, which is going to be a hard sell at even 750, much less if its north of a grand.

we need a head unit! not just nav! we need to feed an amp with a decent signal! and sync is soooo bad! we need to replace sync!

a better tomtom unit is a nice thing to have. there is certainly room for improvement, but at the end of the day this is not solving the major problems for the base model in my opinion.

750 is a bit toof much if that's the case I'll roll with the tomtop

I think charging a bit more for this product (if it actually ends up using that Rosen system pictured for the hardware) is probably worth it, given that this achieves a far-better 'factory' look than the S197 kits, with their extra-large frame around the screen. Of course, make a few mistakes with a kit like this, or others, and you could easily end up spending the difference between a base and a premium model Mustang to put everything back together again, or to achieve a desired perfection.

And as far as I'm concerned, the only issues I've had with the Taobao unit I bought a few months ago (which looks strikingly similar to that unit pictured here) are just minor software glitches. As far as I know, the unit I bought could have been a prototype with just some incomplete software for demo purposes--it sure feels like it in some spots. Regrettably I'll probably be tossing the darned thing once the Raxiom-branded one comes out, provided the software issues are hammered out (or at the very least, the ability to update the software and the company actually making good on follow-up updates comes true.)

I'm still very curious to see what solution is provided for dealing with that black plastic panel that seals up the factory radio, which we've all had to cut up to get our aftermarket kits to line up. I can't imagine the instructions would literally have you cut that thing up--I'd pay a premium if it just included a new cover with the provisions made already for housing the circuit board.

I think expecting something like satellite radio or Android Auto/Apple Car Play integration is a nice thing to dream about--I certainly would love it--but I'm sure there is a brick wall of licensing and other issues that very easily prevent it from being a reasonable item in terms of cost. Not to mention you need to then basically completely ignore the Sync unit (for better or worse as you'd need to pair the device with the aftermarket unit itself, meaning it would then need its own Bluetooth setup. I think that could work. But I just don't see it happening for around one grand.

I disagree charging that much more for a few features more than the TomTop is ridiculous. What justifies the spike in price? Not many charge that large amount of money so why should raxiom bro? This is a mustang, not a luxury car

I have a Tomtop. Here's how I look at it: With the Raxiom, you're getting product support. Not the case with the Tomtop. Of course, if the Tomtop units hold up well, it's not much of an issue. However, the Tomtops haven't been in our cars very long, so there's no history to justify the bargain price at this point. If they start crapping out at 7 or 8 months, something like the Raxiom will be a little more desirable. So far, the Tomtop is a lot of bang for the buck. However, it is the only show in town. Time will tell the real story.
Edit: Not the only show in town...just the most popular of the similar products.

I agree with all of your points brother. But $750 and up is still ridiculous for the little that you get extra. You are absolutely right tho time will tell

Sync is the "brains" of the oe system, Bluetooth, calling etc. It's a nice idea, but a quick search will show many many people have problems with it. I personally don't care about losing any features associated with sync because it's so prone to fail anyway.

That's not necessarily true. The steering wheel buttons are just that. If there is a unit that is already programmed to understand how those buttons work it doesn't matter if it has Sync at it's heart or not.

I have a premium sync2 nav system and would gladly rip it out and stomp on it Office Space style if the Raxiom unit:

1. Is faster than dog shit
2. Displays more than 16 characters in a song title (or at least scroll it). Seriously Ford, who let this one slip by?
