Probably. I know I had very mixed emotions from my instructor in high school advanced Calculus when I changed the seating chart one day. I convinced the class to lay all the chair/desks end to end on their sides in a spiral with the instructor's desk in the center. So, he had a lengthy walk past each of us in our horizontal orientation on his way to it. He was both annoyed and amused.
If you think back, some of your first friends or foes, were those that sat near you in class. Starting around middle school, most teachers lined us up alphabetically by last name. My last 6 or 7 years of school were spent in class near the same people. I was lucky that one of the prettiest girls in our class most always sat in front of me because our last names started with 'B'. Though she was way out of my league we were cordial friends throughout. We even sat next to each other at graduation. Our high school was somewhat small with 104 graduating.
Now days fewer than that graduate from some of the largest big city high schools.
