i see you are from texas. i'm not sure how much wet weather you get but i'm up here on the westcoast where it rains 364 days a year so daily driving for me usually involves some opposite lock. maybe go find yourself an empty parking lot and learn the limits of the car and yourself under those conditions.

I haven't had any issues with the Mustang in the rain but I definitely notice it's not as composed as any other car I've had. BFG Comp TA's have helped alot on the interstate at high speeds but I'd still never toss it in the corner if there's even a hint of dampness in the air. It's more like my Corvettes, just a little twitchy. My Subaru WRX with AWD was much more confident in wet weather.

I never drive all cars the same way. It's not the best metahphore but if you're dating a crazy girl don't treat her the same way as a sane girl. They have different hot buttons so adjust accordingly.

Until there is a common sense mode on these type of cars, use the one between your ears.

Good grief...some of you need to chill the fuck out. All I said is that it got a little squirelly. Yes it had just started raining, but I was not on the throttle at all...a normal turn. I didn't wreck...didn't come close...and will use rain mode from now on. Not trying to bash the car nor am I trying to race it beyond my skills. Sorry I didn't just keep it to myself since everyone here seems to think they are dale earnhardt reborn. I am done with this forum. Fuck.

I think you took the comments a little too personally. A lot of people get these cars and don't understand that they can't just mash the pedal.

And the other half of the comments are telling you to get new tires, and that's because these stock Pirellis are trash in the rain.

I think most people were giving constructive advice on new tires or maybe a little HP driving school to maximize your safety. I dont think any of them were personal attacks. Hell I took some of the advice too and ordered new tires, I ordered new tires.

You're probably right - if it only did get a little squirrely it probably wasn't worth posting about. I wouldn't have.

The point about Ford's choice of all-season tires is well-taken. I didn't like what they gave me on my '08 either.

Without a much more detailed explanation, there isn't any way to tell that you didn't just step off from a full stop with exactly the same amount of throttle you'd used in the dry the time before. Or that you didn't simply hit a really slick spot.

Rain mode may well help you out in the short run. But with that will come a complacency that is in direct opposition to good driving skills.

FWIW, this forum is one of the friendlier places. But no place on the internet is going to be completely safe for the unusually thin-skinned.

Eh I could see where he took some offense to the comments about him using his brain to drive or about his general lack of skill behind the wheel. Really no reason for those imho and not really constructive.

I think most of the issue is from the stock tires. Never had the pleasure of those tires as mine came with the P Zero Nero all seasons(dealer swapped them out when the OEM tires were toast) that I can say are fairly decent in the wet and dry/cold.

I drove day 2 with 40kms on my mustang to work in heavy rain. Took it easy I was really surprised how well it handled. I have the same 18 base Nero AS tire. My base doesn't have the rain/snow mode. Traction control on.

Compared to the stock Civic SI Michelin MXM4 tire the pirelli is far superior. This car was a lot worse in the wet even with a limited slip diff I was spinning in first at stops. Though I recently switched to Toyo proxes 4plus and made a world of difference.

Sorry u got offended. I actually agree with others people on here have been amazing. Great advice and I read posts almost every day.

My old GT rides on Pilot SS, so I welcome the rain.

Refusing to admit to at least minor amounts of driver error is perhaps one of the worst attitudes to acquire. Getting a bit hot under the collar when driver error is suggested only compounds the situation.

He really should have admitted to himself that he screwed up a little, if only by not recognizing how marginal the grip his tires had. And left it at that.

good tires will solve this... I have Contin DWS06 and my car handles kick ass in the rain... almost as good as dry...
Ditto.

I've even driven in light snow with the DWS06's, just have to be careful is all.

Also, people running "street drag radials" or "3 Season/Summer only" tires have to be aware of their extremely limited (if non existent) cold weather performance.

Man can this thing get squirelly in light rain. I was turning right onto a road today and the back end started fishtailing on me. The rain was pretty light and I was not pushing it at all. The nanny controls stepped in and I consider myself a decent driver so no accident. I was in normal mode...won't make that mistake again...always snow/wet for me in rain.

I don't see a stupid question in the OP's original post. Hell I don't even see a question?????

All he said was he was turning right on a road and the ass end got a little squirrely, He never said he was pushing it or doing anything stupid:shrug: He just stated what had happened. No stupid question or comment.

Just sayin............:D
