Man can this thing get squirelly in light rain. I was turning right onto a road today and the back end started fishtailing on me. The rain was pretty light and I was not pushing it at all. The nanny controls stepped in and I consider myself a decent driver so no accident. I was in normal mode...won't make that mistake again...always snow/wet for me in rain.

I've never understood this concern. Modulating throttle inputs is driving 101, you can't just stomp on the pedal whenever.

Have you ever driven a car without electroic nannies?

The most dangerous time by far to drive in rain is just when the pavement starts to get wet. All the oil that is leaking out of the cars driving on the road has not yet washed off so it's literally like an oil slick if you aren't careful. I'm guessing the OP was turning where there was a stop sign or stop light where cars sit for a couple minutes at a time leaking oil. You shouldn't have any problems in rain if you have good tires and don't do anything you shouldn't do

good tires will solve this... I have Contin DWS06 and my car handles kick ass in the rain... almost as good as dry...

You'll learn how to handle it soon enough. The stock Pirelli AS tires are pretty poor in the rain.

Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ will fix that.

His car is a 2016 and has the 18'' foundrys so it should have a decent amount of tread left on the stock AS tires. I'd guess 15k miles on the car but no way more than 30k and unless you're driving like it's autocross day in and day out those tires should last at least 45k miles. Can't be a bad tire thing

I am with NoVaGT on this one. Too many drivers do not respect the power and traction in bad weather.

This.

Of course, I've had the privilege of driving on icy winter roads for 30+ years. You can learn a lot in slick parking lots after hours that translates directly to high powered cars on asphalt, wet or dry. These days the nannies take some of the fun out of winter driving to some degree - no more hooning without stability control harshing the mellow.

Once I got the hang of my tuned and pullied GT500, I could slide it around corners at will during the summer and scare the absolute shit out of unsuspecting passengers yet have complete control.

Heck I use the factory Pzero summer tires here in CT in the winter, and thats with 739hp. Just use the throttle wisely and you'll be ok.

Go get some driving experience - auto-x / hdpe, whatever. I'm serious. I'm no great driver, auto-x'd some (way less than some other people here) and drive permanently in Track mode with no problems controlling the car in any conditions. Even on summer tires during light snow (which we had after I put summers back on, no accumulation of course). You will never ever use (or have a need to) Wet/Snow mode.
