What's the benefit that you're looking for? Cooler temps on the street? Are you running too high temps just cruising around?
Little more cooler temps on streets

What are you getting up to now?
Not bad at all 180s I just wanted to have it set around 190 or 195 because soon I’m going to switch out my thermostat for a 170

That's already way too cool to begin with, and you want to go even cooler than that? These motors are meant to be operated at ~210*, so unless you're trying to eek out an extra 1-2hp when you're cruising on the highway this is 100% a waste.

I was under the impression that the fans only had two speeds (high, low). Is it actually possible to set the percent to whatever you want?
Both pcmtec and hptuners have it defined in such a way that lead me to believe it’s PWM control. But that’s not always an accurate indicator. If you have any information that says for sure one way or the other I’d be interested.

And when does the oem thermostat open up? I searched but didn't spot the answer. I thought it was 190 but I'm second guessing myself.
Stock for the mustang is 180 and f-150 is 190.

Thank you for the info, I have nothing empirical, just anecdotal on the fan speeds.
When I get back to town I'll set up a tune and try to walk the fans up a step at a time, that would be interesting to see.

According to Ford, the difference between 180 and 200 deg ECT is 1.2 deg timing if you’re knock limited.
I’m not even going to lie I’m new to a lot of this and what is knock I always thought you hear knock when your engine is toast I’m sorry if I sound stupid šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

There are two reasons to want a performance engine to run cooler, 1) so the inlet air remains cooler and denser and fills the cylinder more and 2) to reduce spark knock. You can google spark knock and read for years about it. If you aren’t using 93 octane then start there. Pretty much all modern mustangs are knock-limited, so anything you can do to reduce spark knock will allow more timing which in turn makes more power.

Thank you so much I got a 93 performance tune so that’s pretty good for a starter thank you for the information 😁

Sounds like you need to take a step back and do some more learning. If you don't know what knock is, what are you doing this for? Just because you heard it on Facebook?

Not trying to be mean, everyone was new and un-informed at some point. But you're going down the wrong path.
