I just picked up a 21' with headers and a Borla ATAX system. It's as expected loud (sounds great with their crazy Z pipe thing though). With the exhaust in quite mode I can start it without pissing my neighbors off. And a lot of the time just poking around town and stuff I will probably leave it in quiet mode too. It's still makes plenty of noise.

My question is has anyone gone through their dash menu and set it up to be in quiet mode 24/7 and when they're out in the world in the right place at the right time use the center console/dash switch to play with the louder modes?

Does this work?
Any downsides?
Any glitches?

Thanks

What?

I have it start in quiet mode from 8pm-8am other than that it's fully open.

I have not done this, but I think I understand how it could be accomplished.

Configure Quiet Start to operate from 0001 - 2359 (or whatever the variables allow).

Configure a MyMode profile that includes Quiet Mode for the exhaust.

Once setup, the car will start in quiet. Once started, the car defaults to Normal mode, for safety purposes. You'll need to then switch to MyMode. Now, you're running in Quiet.

When you do want a louder setting, switch to that mode: Normal, Sport, Track, etc. The car will then use those settings. Later, you'll have to return to your MyMode profile, or select Quiet in the exhaust menu.

My goal is it would default to quiet 24/7 (making that the "normal" mode) and with the dash switch you can change it to the other settings on the fly.

I have my GT set for quite mode 1am to 6am. As soon as I'm out of my neighborhood I have my mode set for open exhaust and steering mode set.

I don't know if Mach 1's are different but mine is set to start in quiet mode 24/7

set it to 12am to 12pm or might be 12am to 12am and it will always start in quiet mode then just change it to my mode when I head off

That's what I do (I'd need to go out and look at exact times) it's like 1159pm to 1158pm programmed to start in quiet mode. Then when out of my neighborhood bump up the exhaust to suit my mood. Sometimes when I'm feeling obnoxious I will take it out of programmed quiet start mode when out and about running errands, frequenting roadside eatery, getting gas etc. but then karma bites me and I forget to put it back into programmed quiet start mode and the next morning BOOM loud start-up scares the crap out of me!

Maybe my M1 is different but if I use Quite Start it stays there until I change it on the steering wheel(sound only) or the Mode toggle switch
My Mach 1 also stays in quiet mode after quiet start until I manually change it. I'd prefer a simple two-position (or even a three-position) toggle switch as I don't like scrolling through any kind of menu while driving plus it seems gimmicky to have so many driving modes and intermediate loudness options with a computer further manipulating the muffler's bypass valve based on driving modes and engine load conditions.

Why is that a problem? From the Borla video and the 4-pin computer controlled valve position, the bypass valve opens at WOT. I've never tried WOT in quiet mode, what kind of trouble did you experience?

I have a 18 with headers, borla switchfire resonator delete and stock rear muffler.
I have it in quiet start mode 24/7 through My mode i have sports + as well as quiet exhaust mode.
Under passive throttle it's reasonably loud but under full noise it's insane .
I read somewhere that even in quiet mode after 50 % throttle the rear butterfly opens anyway.
With full open butterfly the car is really loud everywhere .
After start i switch to my mode and leave it there as when rear opens up it's straight through heads to tailpipe .

I'm referring to the OEM set up. Not that familiar with the borla style. The OEM doesn't open via computer at WOT. It opens via selection on toggle or steeringwheel. Maybe it's forced open a bit from added exhaust pressure, but that puts stress on the actuators, increases back pressure, and builds up heat. I've had actuators go bad, and developed rattles in the butterfly valves. I believe it's from valves not being fully opened when driving hard.

Edit: I'm not suggesting you're going to blow your engine. But it's certainly putting stress on the AE actuators and valves.

I wish we had steering wheel buttons like bmw does )= I thought about researching if you could turn the paddle shifters for auto matics into preset buttons or what the toggle button does. Throw it on a manual car since they won't be used for the trans.

Here you go. The valves don't open all the way in Quiet mode even at WOT.... and that's Borla.
