Hi everyone. I am new to the mustang scene, in fact, I am very new to modding/upgrading car parts so my questions may sound "noob", so please help me out if I misunderstand something.

As of now, I am looking for ways to upgrade my suspension and make my car feel smoother around corners. I currently have a stock wheels set up. It's square 265/35/r20. I will be upgrading to better tires once this factory one gets used up. Mechanical wise, everything else is also stock.

A little bit about me. I am a pretty careful driver, this is especially true around corners. What mustang offer at stock satisfies my need. However, as an enthusiast, I am looking for ways to improve my car. Right not I want my car to have better handling and feel better around corners. I don't need anything extreme performance, just something that would be a great upgrade for a daily driver.

I have been considering to do mainly 2 things. Lowering my car by about an inch and install Steeda stop the hop kit (starter kit). However, shops around my area are asking $1000+ for installing a lower spring. So here are my questions.

1. If I don't lower my car and only install the stop the hop kit, would that be enough to make me feel better around corners? Most people that have the stop the hop kit installed say it's great, but most of them also have their car already lowered.
2. Does lowering a car by an inch make a huge difference in terms of drivability and feeling more planted to the ground? I have never driven a lower car so I have no actual experience.

I am open to suggestions and ideas. However, I would like to stay somewhere below 1k including installation price.

1k for installation price is crazy. Id say 2 or 300$ tops (if you provide the springs)

Steeda stop the hop..or i use bmr cb005 and cb762. Essentially Same thing but made differently.

Bmr handling springs with ford performance shocks and struts seem to be a bread and butter setup.

@Brian@BMVK should be able to help you out for what you should look at for your needs.

@LethalPerformance can hook you up with good deals for sure.

The Steeda kit will vastly improve how planted the rear of the car feels when accelerating and coming out of corners and can perfectly be applied without suspension modifications. I'd start with that.

Because of the stock 20's I'm assuming you have a standard suspension car (so without Performance Package). Lowering it with just springs will not improve handling, it will actually make it worse. If you want to go into that get a complete set with matching struts/shocks from a reputable Mustang specialized company. But make sure you test drive a car with such a set installed first. If you don't like it you will have spent a load of money and still be unhappy.

You will be amazed at what a set of quality tires will do for your handling performance. I'd start there. If you aren't pushing the car then you aren't using up what you already have as far as suspension. The stop the hop kit is nice, but I think its primary function is in the name. Stop the hop...that is a straight line issue...wheel hop when taking off hard. Not really sure how much it will help with cornering. But if you do go with the kit it's not difficult to install yourself.

Tires first. Tires hold the road. Suspension is just trying to keep the tires on the road.

After tires you could do springs, but do new shocks at the same time. Lowering the car an inch or more can do bad things to the ride and handling in some cases if your spring rates are not high enough to match the drop in height. 1” actually removes a significant portion of the available travel, and suspensions need travel to work, so be careful. The main thing is make sure you can put in shocks to match your new springs. They work together

Shocks and struts and be done. Bilsteins recommended. If you really want to lower the car, look at Steeda minimum drops or the Eibach ProKit—both give a bump in performance and are well mannered for the street.

Will the Eibach Prokit have everything I need to properly lower my car?

Can anyone recommend a complete set of lowering spring, shock, and struts? I'm looking about 1" lower both front and back.

That’s a dynamic question.

Springs are the minimum requirement; pair with dampers for best results. Eibachs come with great bump stops, though you can reuse OEM bits just fine. I like the Steeda bumpsteer/roll center correction kit if lowering the front an inch or more.

For springs, consider spring rates. The list below goes from soft to stiff(er):

Consideration of spring rates is very important, but also the ride frequency that the spring rates produce. The basic question is would you like your car to handle similar to a GT350 or perhaps a GT350R?

They are ~ slightly softer than bmr handling springs at minimum, and slightly stiffer at their max. With the front being a larger difference both soft and stiff than the rear. They are progressive vs the bmr handling being linear.

They also drop the car much more.
