Pushing Engine On/Off While Moving

Most sense imo would be speed related: above a few mph, disable engine stop button.

Having had a gas pedal stick down one time, I would argue that my ability to switch the engine off (turning the key) while leaving the transmission in gear (automatic) and rolling to the side of the road was a notable benefit.

The alternative of shifting to neutral with the pedal stuck down was not appealing.

so what if the engine bounces off the limiter? Your brakes and emergency brake still work and are independent of engine malfunction and more powerful than the engine anyway. I would have put the trans in N immediately to prevent any uncontrolled power application to the wheels.

I accidentally bumped the button and shut off my 2020 GT 6MT cruising at about 45mph. Managed to coast it to a parking lot while I figured out what happened and how to restart. Needed to depress the clutch and press the button, just like from a standstill.

I researched some of those start button covers to prevent it, but was unsatisfied with how they just stick on. I imagine the darn thing falling off in the summer heat of a parked car.

not sure why it would. That is a lockout for shifting out of park.

Sorry, mine is an A10. You have to depress the brake to start the car. Same as having to depress the clutch with a manual. Pushing the start button without the brake turns on the accessorie mode.

Lock your doors then hit the remote start button twice and car will start. Then when you get into car you still have to hold brake pedal down and hit the start button before you can drive it

Well, the car is in park - obviously...
So you use the remote and push the lock button once (even if the car is already locked) then push the start button twice. Fires right up.
When you get in it stays running but you have to push the start/stop button while pressing the brake to drive.

Really? Hitting the brake pedal once its been remote started has shut off any other car I 've driven. You have to hit the start/stop button first before you can use either pedal or shift out of park.

1985 Ford Bronco. What limiter? With the engine off and a 1980s slushbox, what "uncontrolled power application to the wheels"? And you seem to have a fairly grand vision of the braking systems available at the time.

This is false. When the car is remotely started, simply pressing the start button will allow you drive the car. Obviously shifting into reverse requires your foot on the brake, but it's not needed to access the screen, etc. I do it daily.

I was going by what the manual shows for remote start. I just tried it and you are correct. My dash said hit start button to drive.

I hit the start button once while doing about 30 mph; engine shut off and all power remained on.
Pushed the clutch down while rolling, hit the button and it started right back up.

I think I was going for the hazard lights and oops, hit the start button.
