Long time admirer of the GT350. Is the reliability of the Voodoo engine a factor ? What model should I look for in reliability ?
Thanks.

Judging by stories on the internet - which is limited data, anyhow - A Voodoo is more likely than a Coyote to burn oil, or have some failure that requires you to replace the engine.

But how do we really know? Is anyone tracking statistics of # of Voodoo engines that blew up vs. # of Voodoo engines with nothing wrong?
People upset about a broken engine tend to be a lot more vocal than people who are happy with their car.

If I could afford a GT350, I'd buy it, and in case of a major engine failure I might put a Coyote in its place.

You can search voodoo reliability, and read 100s of posts on the the subject.

That said...buy an extended powertrain warranty regardless of year. if your motor goes, no matter the year, it will be replaced with a v2 if needed.

Assuming you don't want a year specific color I'd get a 19+.

No disrespect intended. Do a search here and plan on spending a couple days going through all the responses.
Words of advise…Discount those who do not or have not owned one.
PS
Iā€˜d also recommend sitting down with some in your area who currently own one and taking a spin. We love showing others our cars if they show interest. Really nothing else like them on the road.

I’ll be looking to get a GT350 as a fun weekend toy sometime in the next 12-18 months (gotta get the wife on board LOL). The reliability of the Voodoo is not a factor for me at all. I’m planning on looking at ā€˜19’s and ā€˜20’s and will buy an extended warranty. For me, I’ll be looking for a 1 or 2 owner car, mileage probably under 20-30k miles. Like Fred said, look for some local folks and talk to the, about their experiences. There’s a few for sale here on the forum, I’m sure those guys would be happy to talk to you about their cars. Get as much history on the car as you can and go for it!

There's currently only one FPC iteration of the gt350/R so whatever your concerns are, if you want one then you'll have to deal with the possibility of getting one that has problems or one that doesnt. There is no right answer to your question so just do it because #life #pseudoracecar

Only advice is to get one that you are able to buy an extended warranty for. good luck.

For what it's worth, bought mine in Apr of last year and haven't had any problems yet.
2019 with 2.5k miles when bought (now has 7.5k), and got the extended warranty. Personally, I was looking for 19' or newer for peace of mind I guess with the gen2 voodoo. The options on the 19 for me was also a factor. However, I think any year would put a smile on anyone's face.
Good luck!

I got a ride in forum member's GT350, then bought one within weeks after. The car is thrilling.

I’ve been a passenger in one but haven’t driven one yet. I was sold just being in the passenger seat. It was one of the most exciting car rides I’ve been on and the sound is unlike any I’ve ever heard.

These cars are amazing, very visceral. I’ve never had a regret buying one. Even at my age there haven’t been many motorsport experiences that have lasted in impact like these cars.
