At one of my offices (at a college....with lots of complacent children driving cars) I park in the rearmost row in a really big lot. It's worked perfectly since I bought the car. However, a few days ago I came out and my car's ass end was completely coated/dusted with grass clippings. They didn't come off with spirited driving either and are actually still on the car. I'm waiting until I wash it with water to get it all off and I'm afraid using a qd spray and mf towels will cause scratching.

I thought about keeping a rolled up piece of material on two rods in the trunk. Then I could unroll it and stick the rods in the ground blocking the jackass from being able to spew clippings at my car.

The common thought might be not to park in the back row but again, the farther away from the teens the better and again, this hasn't been an issue.

Thoughts? Anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks

Have a little chat with the jackass driving the mower and explain the proper way of mowing is to blow grass clippings away from your car. Talk to the maintenance department/manager or whatever and give them an ear full as well. If that mower picks up some solid material it's going to do some damage to the car. I have stopped land scappers before and explained the correct way of mowing is to blow away from the street or parked cars. However, when trimming it is inevitable that some grass is going to get thrown into your car if parked near grass. Get a car cover.

Park away from the grass.
This and a good wax. If they're not coming off easily with a little water, use a different product.

Wet and even just moist grass (dew) will stick like glue and have to be washed off, if won't blow or even wipe off.

Stop parking there, just blame someone else, the chicken shit way.

1st world problems.

I don't park next to the grass for this reason. Not to mention the possibility of the mower throwing rocks at the car.

Our lawn care guys do the same thing. I park as far forward in the parking spot as possible. That minimizes the amount of clippings.

Been down this road before. The church across the street from my office actually got a new mowing service because their previous guy wouldn't stop hosing our cars down. The grass is "bleeding" when it's cut so it's gonna adhere to the car. A touchless car wash can help but they won't all come off. I've got sealer glaze and QD on my paint but it doesn't matter. Those clippings and general grass dust and fine soil isn't gonna come off without making physical contact via a hand wash.

We were at the point where we half jokingly talked about driving some rebar into the ground to jack up his blades. :) Ultimately though, enough complaining to the church got the job done. That's your best bet probably for now.

You will really "enjoy" it when the landscape crew blows leaves in the fall from both the grass and the parking lot. Plus they may clean the parking lot with leaf blowers. As noted above, first world problems but believe me I share your concern.

Don't even get me started with landscapers and the damn blowers (pneumatic rock launchers) they use.

Grass clipping are no issue. Rocks, from the mower and/or the blower, are the issue.

I watched some person using a blower in our parking lot at work, blowing crap right at my car.

It got ugly.
