No, that was not me. I know you are going to laugh because of how far you came from, but Marina is farther than I want to go. I try to make the Crows Landing events. AAS always has fast courses there. I went once to Marina last year. It's a good venue.

Chris Cox and my car in grid at Marina. We were both making our first runs with the STP setups and brand new tires. He did about three sessions and me one. I believe we were within tenths of each other comparing first runs then he stretched that to around .7 with the extra seat time.

My car was so fun and the Marina site a large expanse of smooth, grippy concrete. My car had three drivers, Chris two and there were two or the other STP cars entered.

Awesome time and great group down there! Who doesn't love autocrossing in Jan :-)

Do you have a link to the results?

and F You...for racing in January :frusty:

LOL!! Yeah, I was giving my family back in Jersey all kinds of grief this weekend. They got hammered by that same blizzard I think you were in over in PA.

Looks like results are up: http://www.americanautox.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Results-Rnd-1-2016.pdf

Chris ran in like 3 different heats for I don't know how many runs. His best of the first 5 runs was a 47.0xx if I remember right. My best of my first 5 runs was a 47.2xx. So, I'm pretty stoked to be in the ballpark right out of the box.

edit: hell, looking closer at the rest of the results...I was within .5 PAX of Sam, beat all of FS raw (I know - I'm on a better suspension now but still cool since those guys were killing me last year). Dang, that's sweet!

Do you and Chris have a tune with higher rev limiter?

Was it a tight course or open? Looks like STX was a little faster raw time

Neither of us has a tune so factory rev limiters. Chris had a cold air intake and cat back but me just a AFe filter, X-pipe and factory mufflers.

The course was a shortened Crows CT type course minus a slalom. I was on the rev limiter 2 or 3 times but there was also a dig or three from a slower 2nd gear corner. Plus, a few high speed offsets and sweepers.

I'm sure STX was faster due to way more development in their setups. I haven't even done an alignment yet, nevermind corner weighting and my prep is pretty basic at this point. I think I have too much rear toe-in and I need to work on tire pressures, shock settings and of course, the driver and getting used to the Bridgestones. Chris thinks I should lower my rear suspension a little bit while I thought his front suspension looked too rigid to me.

Even on the 5th run I was under-driving some portions of elements, over-drove a couple spots but felt like I properly connected a few other parts. So, there was a good chunk of time left out there, I'm sure. It is just the 1st event, but it was a fun one!

I think the higher rev limit will make a big difference. Every event I did in FS, I was on the limiter multiple times (or 3rd gear) Now I can do 65 in 2nd.

I ran 31 front 29 rear on the stones.

I wasn't trying to put you or Chris down,.....just trying to get all the info to compare.
I think every event I got faster and faster, getting used to the car.

No worries. I didn't take it as if you were putting us down in any way and sorry if I came across as defensive.

I'm sure I will eventually get to doing a tune with higher rev limit. One thing I did do was Steeda trans and shifter bushings/inserts in the hopes of getting to 3rd a lot more consistently so I have better luck with the 3rd gear option. I am lucky to find the limiter in 2nd on the postage stamp, gouged up asphalt lots we have in OR. I have to travel far and wide like this past weekend to find faster, smoother, grippier events.

Hmmm. I thought Chris had raised the rev limiter and was getting 63 or so out of second. I'm a bit deaf so may have misunderstood.

I didn't drive either car but it was a pleasure to watch a Mustang accelerate at full throttle without its nose in the air. Chris's car was super buttoned-down, I agree.

Chris's car has the super wiz bang JRi double adjustable strut and caster/camber plates from Mike Maier Inc. They have been working on the design all last season. Mike went public with the shock for the first time at SEMA last year and Chris is doing all the testing. From the sounds of it, Sam was pretty impressed with the car right out of the gate.

One more year in FS. (Angela wants another shot at a jacket) The struts can accommodate the stock springs.

STP S550 or FS 1LE Camaro for 2017.....

She and I talked as she was contemplating getting into Bob's car. Everything Bob has indicated, she definitely has a shot.
