Well on one hand I just enjoy music in general, and on the other hand I also enjoy nerding out on technology. Now...put those hands together...and you get an addicting hobby.

Started with my last car one summer when I was delivering pizzas for pizza hut. Decided I needed a Kicker 15L7 in the trunk to make the job more interesting  and it kinda just grew from there. Also ended up replacing the head unit, threw some boston acoustics up front, and some pioneers in the rear deck. I've been dreaming of an all out build like this since college, and now I have a job and the $$$ to make it happen :D

It may also just be in my genes. My dad did some crazy like $3000 - $4000 build with his explorer back in the early 90's. Wish I had been old enough to hear and appreciate it. He also taught me a little bit about building sub enclosures when he decided to build my cousin a custom sub enclosure with 2 leftover 10"s he had...JUST FOR FUN! My cousin still has those subs in his eclipse(sacrificed the entire trunk for them haha), and they're still rockin 10 years later :headbang:

thank you for all the info and pics, they are awesome!
Question, do you know if it is the same amp for the different systems? I order the base GT with 6speakers and wondering if I could add a mid range speaker and a bass together with the msl-8.
I am thinking on spr-60 and 60c initially, any thoughts?

thx

A quick question here.. is there any reason you didnt use the factory wire running up to the tweeters in the pillar? it runs directly to the output on the amp does it not?

Secondly did you have to do any signal summing or are the front left/right and rear left/right outputs from the amp all full range?

Thanks for the great posts and updates. I don't have my car yet (EB Premium with Shaker 12 sp) but I am about to remove my MS-8 that has served me so well over the past 5 years in my current car and have it ready for the Stang.

So has anyone gotten any further with adding a DSP using the factory amp input signal instead of the amp speaker output on an EcoBoost? The wiring diagram that Heinoceros posted suggests that there actually is a is 'clean' audio input from the head unit to the amp and a seperate input for the fake engine noise and other sound cancellation signals. Which (as strange as it may sound) also suggests that the actual mixing of audio and noise signal is done inside the amp rather than inside the headunit.

Come to think of it, it might make sense that the 'noise cancelling' on the EcoBoost is actually added outside of the headunit, since that way Ford can keep the headunits universal over all engines and have the added costs of the active noise circuitry limited to a specific type of amp only to be used in the EcoBoost.

33.3 did you use the PPI crossovers? If so where did you mount/hide them ?
I am not making use of the PPI x-overs. I am using the active crossovers from the MS-8

The factory wiring going to the tweeters actually comes from the mids. The factory amp runs wires to the mid speaker, then daisy chains wires over to the tweeter, so I basically had to run dedicated wires as the factory set-up uses 2 channels for 3 drivers :-/ kinda defeats the purpose of even having 6 speakers.

I have not tested with using only the rears for input. I have heard they are full range but do not know 100%
I am making use of 5 channels for input, Front-Left High, Front-Left Low, Center, Front-Right High, Front-Right Low. So yes, signal summing, which is accomplished with the MS-8.

Well everyone it has been a long time since I have posted in this thread as life has been pretty busy the last 6 months. Got a new job. Moved to Austin. lot of friend/family weddings, etc. yadda yadda, who cares? What's happened to the car!

Long story short, no progress has been made on the audio system :-/ I still haven't completed my amp mounting unit. I haven't hooked up dedicated amps to my speakers yet either. Only thing I have done is completely switch over to using auxiliary input on the MS-8. No radio, just my phone. Plus, it kills all the fake engine noise BS! The AUX input sounds cleaner the factory amp output as input anyway.

So what, if anything, has changed on the car? Just a few things under the hood. I installed my MAP CAI about a month ago

CAI.jpg

as well as an FFTEC Economy Core IC

Put in some NGK 6510's gapped to .028 as well. Factory ones looked kinda meh coming out. Factory tune running rich?

Also, here's a cool pic I snapped of the turbo inlet compressor wheel when I was doing the CAI install

Turbo.webp

Will have to figure out the specifics on uploading a video later, but I have one showing the bumper removed to show the IC installed with some revs to show the CAI sounds as well.

Lastly, the TUNE!!
I have a tune from Adam Brunson via the COBB Accessport. I decided to pay the extra $250 for his e-tune offering and I do not regret it one bit. I feel I have gotten more than $250 in value between his tune, suggestions, general knowledge sharing, troubleshooting, and all around great customer service. The car feels worlds better in the higher RPM's and 1st gear makes me wanna buy new tires and some suspension upgrades. I can roast them all through first if I want! So far I have been able to bring my 0-60 times down from consistent 5.9's to consistent 5.4-5.5's. Hope to have that lowered maybe after some tire/suspension work.

Should have some updates regarding my BOV and CC installations coming up in a few weeks.
