Hahahha @Lorne34 , funny thing about your post is you just described every reason TO get PPF, lol.

On another topic, I follow a shop that highly recommends Stek PPF, and they claim it is #1 for looks, gloss, and clarity.
STEK is supposed to be one of, if not the best out there. I’ve talked to a few folks that have used it and they rave about it. If memory serves, you can only get it at certified install shops so finding it might be difficult. But don’t quote me on that as I’m not 100% sure if I’m remembering correctly

The shop that sells and installs Stek highly recommends it? That's weird. 😉

Here's a tidbit for the "who makes the best PPF" debate. 3M invented PPF and sells it in bulk to the other companies who work with 3M on product development. Those other companies have a lock on the marketing and most importantly the patterns software for most of the cars. That software is really important and 3M isn't really vested in that part. Their pattern software is kind of generic. But Expel and the others have really revolutionized the precut patterns software part of the industry which helps installation. 3M has bigger fish to fry. Expel is only in it for the PPF.

Disclaimer: 3M certified. YMMV

I get what you’re saying, and at the same time, I don’t get it, so I’ll tune up my statement. The shop in question recommended it based on my request/priorities being looks as most important, vs protection or some other factor. This shop sells and installs several brands, so it wasn’t like a one liner shop trying to push their product.

Expel ppf. I have the bikini cut and people don't even see the line (end) of it across my fenders and hood, unless I point it out to them. It cuts across the hood just behind the vents.
I'm sure other films are just as good or better. This is my experience. I like their warranty, 10 year.
Expel also has tint.

Pros: you'll preserve your paint and get no more scratches and chips.
It will help but it's not a Star Trek Deflector Shield. With larger hits it will tear and while you can improve the look of the tear with heat, it will still be there.

With no PPF on it, in 5 years... your car's paint is going to look like this...
Funny, but my car isn't filmed and it will be five years old in February Tony, can you see how badly the paint has faded? <smile>

Dropping mine off this week for PPF R&R full bumper, hood, fenders and headlights plus fogs. So trashed after 35 K 4 season miles.

Car still looks new overall though!

Finally got a cracked windshield that was due for replacement in April.....tiny chip on the edge up top. Ford OE one to go back in.
