I'm digging up an old thread. I recently installed a new EPAs in my 2017 because I believed the old one was causing clunks when going lower speed over bumps.
New rack I purchased showed it was compatible with my car and was specific for 19x9.5 wheels. I have upgraded 19x10 wheels so I figured this would be the rack to get.
After installing and trying to update As built data and firmware using forscan I realize I have installed a PP type EPAS whereas my car was not a PP. Forscan using my car's vin cannot pull up the correct firmware.
After more digging I found that ford's part website would state a fit based on Vin. I found a VIN on autotrader that shows a match for the rack.
This is where I am now. My current thought is that I can somehow use this new VIN to locate the correct firmware. Or perhaps there is a place I can download the firmware from using the Ford part number. I have not figured this out yet.
