While using a regular garden hose, soap and a microfiber my pp wheel chipped! Is this covered under my warranty? The car only has 1500 miles!

I've heard of hard water, but this is ridiculous...but in all seriousness, I hope it's covered. Unfortunately, (depending on what it looks like) it will be very difficult to prove it didn't happen due to hitting a curb or something.

For whatever reason it keeps failing when I try to upload a picture. There is zero other damage around it. You can tell there was no impact with a curb or any other object just a clean eraser size chip with no scratches or anything around it.

Ridiculous. Going to the dealer now.

Subscribed. Please report back with your dealership experience. I also have a small chip on one of mine (no curbing) that either resulted from flying debris while driving or ??? I honestly planned to use touch-up paint on it, but not sure if I can get it to match/blend.

Mine definitely happened while washing it. I was thoroughly spraying it down with the garden hose and was up close and personal and it wasn't there. Then when I started washing it with the microfiber it was clear it appeared. I don't have a single chip anywhere on the vehicle so it's not like I was behind a big rig spraying gravel all over the truck or anything...

I went in on Saturday and they said I needed to come back to talk to the body shop manager, which I'm going to do in a few hours this morning. I'm also wondering if it helps that I purchased the wheel and tire warranty?

The wheel and tire warranty should cover the replacement of a new wheel. Unless there are silly stipulations within in the verbiage.

i dont think wheel and tire would replace a wheel because of a chip.

The warranty that I have will replace the wheel for any imperfections on the face of the wheel.

Not sure how they could fix a PP wheel and get it back factory looking using touch-up paint. Maybe they have a different process for that. No idea.

I have the tire and wheel warranty and I had a tire replaced and repair to the wheel performed when the wheel was curbed. They don't replace the wheels for cosmetic damage but they do repair them.

Dealer told me they won't replace OR repair my wheel.

Recap - 1500 miles, chipped while washing with a garden hose and microfiber, I paid for tire and wheel warranty. I'm livid.

Did you file a claim with the insurance company that the policy is with? I read the terms of the contract and followed the claim. I had the option to take my car anywhere. I chose the dealership because my car was there for something anyway. I gave the dealership body shop the claim number and it was a done deal. If you can't use the warranty you purchased then cancel it and get your money back.

The dealer did. And I had assumed it was with Ford. Are you saying that it's a third party?
