Power Seat Removal

I have a 2015 GT Convertible and I need to remove the seats in order to run some wires under the carpet as well as apply sound deadener The seats are power since the car is a Premium version and it has the drivers seat memory. Is there anything I should know before I unplug the wiring from the seats to take them out? Will it go back to the same position? I don't plan to move them in anyway once they are out, so my assumption is they should be the same when I put them back in. Just want to see if I am missing anything. TIA!

Make sure you disconnect your negative battery cable before performing electrical work on your car? As far as position you may need to reset after disconnecting battery. Not sure with that to be honest.

They are heavier than you think. Ditto on removing the negative first. Just make sure you can access all four bolts first.

The 4 bolts take a big Torx bit, T50 IIRC. You'll have to move the seat all the way forward and tilt the back forward to access the rears, take them out first. Then move it all the way back and remove the fronts. Yes, you will likely lose your seat position memory. Removing the head rests makes pulling the seats out of the car easier.

I was told when you remove the battery leave it at least 15 mins so there is no problems with airbags.

I remove my seat to put in my bucket for trackdays. I always have to move the seat forward and back when taking it out. No problem with the memories when putting it back in. I don’t unplug the negative terminal and the airbag hasn’t surprised me… yet.

Or you can drop the top and lift it out without the roof up.

Turning the headlights on for a few seconds will drain out any stray electrons. I probably wouldn't even disconnect the battery though..

I had to pull the seats when I replaced my evap core. It's not too hard. One of the bolts on the passenger seat was frozen and I never got it removed. It's stuck for good. Other than that they're not hard to separate or remove. They are a little heavy and awkward to lift out. If you have a garage where you can leave the top open while they're out it'll make it a little easier. I also removed the steering column before pulling the seat which made the driver's side a little easier as well. I'm not recommending removing the steering column to remove the seat. I had to remove it to remove the dash so I pulled it before the seat.

I did have a tough time re-seating one of the electrical connectors under the driver's seat when I re-installed them. I couldn't get at the connector where it's positioned under the seat frame. It took some fiddling and finally using a pair of channel lock pliers to get it seated.
